Marvel is diving into the arena with a brand new fighting game which would allow players to choose from their favorite characters from the comics and take on their opponents in a 4v4 high-octane fight.

Arc System Works, responsible for the massively popular Guilty Gear franchise, has ed forces with Marvel Games to bring to life this latest fighting extravaganza. MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls features reimagined characters and stages that fans will no doubt recognize. Playstation.blog claims that the game also promises “a heart-pounding soundtrack, intuitive gameplay mechanics, and jaw-dropping visuals.”

Well that certainly sounds like something worth getting excited about. Last year Marvel Games partnered with NetEase Games and surprised players with its hero shooter, Marvel Rivals. Will lightning strike twice as the comic juggernaut hops on yet another gaming trend? Or will Tōkon: Fighting Souls crash and burn upon release?

The gameplay

There’s not a whole load of information about the game available at the moment. Players have been offered a glimpse in the form of a trailer showing the gameplay in motion. It looks similar to plenty of other popular fighting game franchises such as Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Street Fighter and Guilty Gear of course. Of course, this game is different as you’ll get to play as Marvel heroes and villains.

The trailer shows how players can switch out their heroes mid fight and deliver devastating combos. On top of that, the art style is pretty cool, with different character models to Rivals but still a somewhat similar look. 

What are fans saying about Marvel: Tokon Fighting Souls

As you’d expect, many were pretty excited at the prospect of the new game. After all, Marvel games rarely disappoint (the opposite can be said of Marvel movies nowadays). One fan wrote, “looks great! I’ll be buying,” another drew attention to the cool-looking character designs with Iron Man’s suit receiving praise in particular.

But not everyone was impressed with the new Marvel game. One person commented, “Am I wrong to think this game might just be Marvel trying to cash in on the fighting game trend?” Meanwhile, another called it a copy of previous fighting games, “2025 and we’re still making copy pastas of mortal kombat.” Then of course there were those who were disappointed that we got a Marvel fighting game and it wasn’t a Marvel vs. Capcom sequel.

Right now it’s very early days of course. We only have one trailer to go off of. The game isn’t even set to be released until some time next year and the specific release date hasn’t even been revealed yet. Let’s wait until we have more info before jumping to conclusions.

Dilbert creator and social media kook Scott Adams has revealed that he doesn’t expect to be around much longer. In the wake of the announcement that Joe Biden has an aggressive form of prostate cancer that’s spread to the bone, the 67-year-old cartoonist took to a live stream to tell viewers he’s suffering from the same condition.

Adams said: “I have the same cancer Joe Biden has. I also have prostate cancer. It has also spread to my bones. But, I’ve had it longer than [Biden’s] had it. Well, longer than he’s itted having it. So my life expectancy is maybe the summer. I expect to be checking out from this domain sometime this summer.”

Adams remains best known for the syndicated Dilbert comic strip, which satirizes the pointless drudgery of office life. However, over the last decade, he’s become known for his increasingly bizarre political proclamations, making predictions that Republicans would be hunted down like animals if Joe Biden won the 2020 election and predicting the Supreme Court would overturn the result in Trump’s favor.

Eyebrows were further raised when Scott appeared to suggest that the parents of teenage boys they suspect might commit a mass shooting must “kill your own son”, became a prominent antivaxxer, questioned the Holocaust, and saw Dilbert dropped from syndication by numerous newspapers after making racist comments on YouTube.

The time he has left

But, despite all this, we can only hope that Adams’ last weeks on Earth are as peaceful and pain-free as possible. Anyone who’s witnessed a person suffering from late-stage cancer wouldn’t wish it on their worst enemy, but Adams seems to be ready for any backlash. Later in the stream, he said:

“People are going to say it’s something I brought on myself; they’re gonna say it’s because I lived a bad life. But people are gonna be really, really terrible. So I wanted to reduce the number of months or weeks — I don’t know what I have left, weeks or months — that people were going to be terrible to me online because it’s gonna be kind of hard to spend any time online.”

The news even seems to have Adams having a rare moment of sympathy for Biden, saying, “Having watched how people treated Joe Biden when the diagnosis came, people are really cruel. They are really bad.” Perhaps this is a case of reaping what he’s sown, but if death really is knocking on Adams’ door and you feel a burning urge to be cruel to him, maybe just hold back a few months until the worst happens and you can do it with a cleaner conscience.

David Fincher has been tapped to direct a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, with Quentin Tarantino on board as a script writer and a leading man in Brad Pitt.

That’s enough buzzy names to send cinephiles into a downright tizzy (David and Quentin and Brad, oh my!), but those aren’t the only titillating details surrounding the film. It has been reported that the project, a follow-up to the original, Tarantino-directed first installment released in 2019, is being eyed for distribution on Netflix, where Fincher has a first-look deal. We also know that Pitt’s starring role will see him reprise the character of Cliff Booth, the Hollywood stuntman who appeared in the first film.

However, Pitt’s former co-stars, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, are not thought to have roles in Fincher’s sequel. Pitt-lovers (that came out wrong) have much to celebrate about this project, since his portrayal of Cliff scored him a Best ing Actor Oscar and his past collaborations with Fincher — including Fight Club, Se7en and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button — are among his most acclaimed to date. 

Even with all that, there’s still more lore surrounding this sequel (buckle up, Fincherheads!). If it lands on Netflix, the film will mark Fincher’s third collaboration with the streamer, with his first two movies, Mank and The Killer, both sharing themes with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. What’s more, the sequel will be among the very few films that Tarantino has written but not directed, ing that exclusive club alongside Tony Scott’s True Romance and Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk till Dawn.

News of the project comes after Tarantino scrapped plans for what would have been his 10th (and supposedly final) movie, The Movie Critic. While dreams of that project have been all-but dashed, Pitt was attached to star in The Movie Critic as some version of Cliff, who we’ll thankfully still get to see, albeit in the Fincher-directed sequel. Naturally, a project of this caliber attracted the attention of legions of movie buffs, who took to social media to respond to what will undoubtedly be splayed all over their Letterboxd s soon enough.

Even with all the details we do know, what’s less clear is the title of the film, which hasn’t yet been announced. Call me basic, but I would simply love it if they went for the completely obvious choice that is Twice Upon a Time in Hollywood. Regardless of where they land on the title, best believe I’m going to be insufferable on Letterboxd when this movie finally arrives, whenever that might be.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was a dream movie for wallcrawler fans, uniting all three big-screen Spideys for a truly jaw-dropping multiversal adventure. It ended with the bittersweet erasing of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker from everyone’s memory, though left him primed to begin a new superhero career as a self-made, street-level Spider-Man.

Now, finally, we know when we’re going to see this play out. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will release on Jul. 31, 2026, meaning it’ll come hot on the heels of Avengers: Doomsday, which lands on May 1, 2026.

Anyone who’s seen No Way Home will know the new status quo presents a literal “new day” for Peter Parker, but the specific phrase “Brand New Day” also refers to a 2008 comics run of the same name, which may give us some clues about what to expect from the plot. So, here’s how it goes down in Marvel Comics.

The ‘Brand New Day’ plot

This story follows immediately after the “One More Day” storyline, in which Peter Parker’s marriage to Mary-Jane Watson was erased by Mephisto, along with a soft reset of Spidey’s world. Now his secret identity is once again safe, Harry Osborn and Aunt May have returned from the dead, and Pete is sporting his mechanical webshooters.

“One More Day” is considered one of the all-time worst Spidey stories but, given that the MCU Spidey is also dealing with a reset of the status quo in which nobody knows his secret identity, a loose adaptation of “Brand New Day” makes sense.

The run also features several plot points we’d expect to see on screen. For example, in the comics, Parker realizes The Daily Bugle is in dire financial straits and is craving new Spidey pics to boost sales. J. Jonah Jameson actor JK Simmons has refused to confirm or deny whether he’s returning in Brand New Day, only saying “No spoilers. Sorry, I’m not telling”. That said, seeing Holland’s Spidey working for Jameson would be hilarious, so we hope it happens.

Thankfully for Zendaya fans, Mary Jane is also part of the comics’ storyline. Though she and Pete didn’t get married, they were in a long-term relationship that didn’t work out and are frosty towards each other. That won’t be the case in the MCU as Zendaya’s MJ has completely forgotten Pete, though we strongly suspect they’ll be back in each other’s arms by the time credits roll.

There’s also a key villain who may feature in Brand New Day from the comics storyline. Most prominent is Martin Li/Mister Negative, who runs a homeless shelter but is secretly a crime boss with bizarre magical powers. His status as a villain was greatly boosted by a central appearance in the 2018 video game Marvel’s Spider-Man, so his leaping the MCU would make sense.

It’s also possible that Brand New Day is only taking the name and nothing else from the comics. After all, we expect Tom Holland to at least appear in Doomsday or Secret Wars in some capacity, and if the events of those movies are as world-changing as Infinity War/Endgame, we may find Spidey in a very different place than we left him at the end of No Way Home. Here’s hoping we get some more hints soon!

Superhero stories have never shied away from tackling real-world issues, but Daredevil: Born Again is taking things to another level. The series just confirmed that one of its biggest plotlines is a direct confrontation of law enforcement corruption. This is fueled by none other than the misuse of The Punisher’s iconic skull symbol.

Episode 3 of Born Again doesn’t just hint at the issue, it dives in headfirst. Granted, Matt Murdock wrestles with his legal career and his moral code. However, this time, he finds himself up against a faction of NYPD officers. Moreover, these officers have embraced The Punisher’s brand of vigilante justice. It’s not just a small group of bad apples, either. The show reveals a widespread problem within the force. Multiple officers are proudly sporting the skull emblem, and enforcing their own brutal version of the law.

But this isn’t just a fictional storyline. It directly addresses a real-world issue. Over the years, police officers and military personnel have adopted The Punisher’s logo, even though Frank Castle is anything but a hero. Even The Punisher’s creator, Gerry Conway, has spoken out about this. He has emphasized that Castle represents a failure of the justice system, not something to be celebrated.

Daredevil: Born Again is bringing that discussion to the forefront, and it’s already sparking plenty of debate. At the heart of this explosive storyline is Hector Ayala, a man on trial for killing a cop. But the truth is far more complicated. Hector stepped in to stop a man from being beaten, not realizing that the attackers were undercover officers. In the chaos, one officer fell onto the subway tracks and died. Instead of acknowledging it as a tragic accident, the NYPD brands Hector a cop killer. Moreover, it moves to make sure he never sees the light of day again. Matt Murdock takes on Hector’s defence, only to realize that the case is really about a system designed to protect itself at any cost.

Episode 3 goes all in on exposing how deeply The Punisher’s influence has seeped into the NYPD. As Hector’s trial unfolds, Matt sees just how widespread this faction is, with dozens of officers sitting in the courtroom, all marked with the same skull emblem. These aren’t just corrupt cops; they’re an organized force operating with complete impunity, carrying out their twisted version of justice. The irony, of course, is that Frank Castle would hate everything about this. The Punisher may be a ruthless vigilante, but he has no patience for corrupt cops. In the comics, Castle has repeatedly made it clear that law enforcement using his symbol completely misses the point.

Daredevil: Born Again is using its platform to highlight the dangers of officers who stop seeing themselves as public servants, and instead, start seeing themselves as enforcers of their brand of justice. Given how divisive this topic is, you’d think fans would be split, but the reaction so far has been overwhelmingly positive. It’s clear that Marvel isn’t playing it safe, and this storyline alone makes it one of the most compelling superhero shows in years.

A new documentary about Marvel Comics co-creator Stan Lee alleges that the comic book icon was mistreated at the hands of a few “bad actors” in the final years of his life. Stan Lee: The Final Chapter was filmed by Jon Bolerjack, a comic book artist and a former assistant to Lee in the four years before he died in 2018. To the release of the film, Bolerjack launched a Kickstarter fundraising campaign, and shared a trailer in which he details the alleged “mistreatment, manipulation, and betrayal” Lee endured before his ing. 

Sharing similar sentiments, fellow comic book artist Tyler Kirkham is heard in the trailer discussing how it “was really hard to watch” Lee being “taken advantage of” while Marvel comic book writer Mark Waid — known for his work Captain America, Fantastic Four and Daredevil — says he “had no idea how badly [Lee] had been exploited.” Alongside those two comic book authors, The Final Chapter will also include interviews with Rob Liefeld and Roy Thomas, who are known for co-creating the character of Deadpool and succeeding Lee as the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics, respectively. 

It’s thought that the documentary will delve into the allegations that Lee was the victim of elder abuse in the years before his death at the age of 95. The Hollywood Reporter investigated such allegations in a 2018 exposé, detailing claims that individuals had improperly influenced Lee’s family and worked to gain control of his assets and money. In 2023, Lee’s estate lost an elder abuse lawsuit against a former attorney, who was named as one of the individuals allegedly influencing his assets. 

While it doesn’t refer to him by name, one person who appears in the Final Act trailer is Max Anderson, Lee’s former road manager for many of his convention appearances. Anderson was embroiled in the controversy when he was named in The Hollywood Reporter’s investigation, though he has consistently denied any wrongdoing. Bolerjack’s documentary is said to be the result of hundreds of hours of footage compiled by the assistant during the pair’s various trips to comic book gs and conventions. 

Bolerjack met Lee through a mutual friend, with the former pitching the idea of filming a reality series centered on Lee. When Lee agreed, Bolerjack became part of the comic book icon’s entourage. “I grew to look at him as a friend, as family, and I really wanted to be there to advocate for him,” Bolerjack told The Hollywood Reporter, adding that he was “doing the best I could” to lessen Lee’s gruelling schedule in his final years. The documentarian also itted that he broke the “cardinal rule” of becoming close to his subject, and said he believes Lee wanted the story of his exploitation to be known by the public. 

“A lot of things have happened to him, but I didn’t get the real sense that he felt shame about it,” Bolerjack said. “I think he wanted it out there to be that sort of warning.” Bolerjack is seeking $300,000 through Kickstarter to complete The Final Chapter, with the money going towards finalizing post-production and paying volunteer crew and legal fees.

Marvel has finally revealed the truth about what happened to the sorceress following her apparent demise in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the full story appears much more complicated — and may just tease her return in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday.

Despite appearing in two of Phase Four’s most popular projects, Elizabeth Olsen’s (anti-)heroine hasn’t turned out to be as major a figure of the Multiverse Saga as we expected. Needless to say, the makers of MoM face flak for that on social media daily, as executing such a powerful and influential character is widely regarded as the movie’s biggest mistake (and this is a film that killed off John Kransinski’s Reed Richards after five minutes!). Luckily, it now appears that Wanda isn’t dead, after all. Everybody, thank the TVA!

In a bizarre twist, the true fate of the MCU’s Scarlet Witch has been revealed not in a Marvel Studios project but in the pages of a Marvel comic. The ongoing TVA comic book series is a neat blend of MCU continuity and the unlimited potential of the comics medium, as it follows the Time Variance Authority after the events of Loki. Along with appearances from familiar characters like Mobius, Sylvie, and Hunter B-15, TVA focuses on the organization’s Research & Advancements Department, staffed by such multiversal variants as Spider-Gwen/Ghost Spider, Captain Carter, and Gambit.

In TVA #3, a psychological sickness known as the Madness is sweeping the multiverse, and in order to find the culprit, Gwen retraces the walk she took through the TVA in a hallucinatory dream. This leads her to discover the forgotten Department of Deferment in the TVA’s bowels. On the comic’s jaw-dropping final page, the department is revealed to house the MCU’s Wanda in stasis (see above). Note the identical character design to the Scarlet Witch’s MoM look!

Given this Wanda’s identical resemblance to the MCU character and the fact that writer Katharyn Blair is an MCU veteran herself — having written for the Loki TV series — there surely is no other way to take this than as an in-canon confirmation that reports of the witch’s death have been greatly exaggerated. In reality, the TVA must’ve removed her from the timeline before she could be crushed by the collapsing Mount Wundagore. Just in case you were in any doubt, artist Pere Pérez confirmed in an Instagram comment that this is indeed Olsen’s Scarlet Witch variant.

After Deadpool & Wolverine reaffirmed the TVA’s importance to the ongoing narrative of the Multiverse Saga, it’s not a stretch to imagine them returning for Doomsday. And now it’s not hard to imagine how the TVA could reintroduce Wanda onto the Avengers’ roster in that same film. Maybe Mobius warns the heroes that Doctor Doom is coming and they need to accept Wanda back on their team in order to defeat him?

TVA #3 is on sale now, with issue four coming in March before the five-part series reaches its conclusion on April 30.

The negative response to Captain America: Brave New World has begged broader questions about Marvel exec Kevin Feige, especially amid criticism from Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld. 

In case you missed it, Brave New World premiered earlier this month to decidedly tepid reviews and an even more lackluster box office haul. The film, which sees Anthony Mackie take the Captain America mantle from Chris Evans, has made history (in a bad way), earning the lowest CinemaScore of any movie within the MCU. Yep, the B minus rating, though not particularly low, is nonetheless lowest earned by any film in the franchise.

Heck, even the almost universally loathed Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The Marvels and Eternals managed to score a B plus on the site, which measures a film’s appeal based on early reactions. On the opposing end of the spectrum, Brave New World’s rating pales in comparison to titles like The Avengers, Black Panther, and Avengers: Endgame, which each earned a respectable A plus CinemaScore. 

The disastrous score has placed increased scrutiny on Marvel boss Kevin Feige, who has been called out by Liefeld in a recent episode of the Deadpool creator’s Robservations podcast. The comic book writer, who created both Deadpool and Cable, revealed that he is severing ties with Marvel after more than three decades in its orbit, citing multiple slights levelled against him by Feige.

One such moment was at the July premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine in New York, where Liefeld claims he was ignored by Feige on the red carpet, and that he and his family were not invited to the after party. Liefeld also claimed that photos of himself and the Deadpool & Wolverine team were deleted, and that his request to receive a special credit at the beginning of the film was denied by Feige and other Marvel bosses. “It was meant to embarrass, diminish, defeat me,” Liefeld said of the apparent in-fighting led by Feige.

In a follow-up interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Liefeld declared that “Marvel’s treatment of creators has never been their strength,” adding that “without the worlds, the characters and the concepts that we create… there are no films to shoot.” Liefeld then doubled-down on his thoughts of Feige while commenting on Brave New World’s box office slump over the weekend, which saw an 82.4% drop from the film’s domestic opening day. “Get Feige off the mound,” Liefeld wrote in response to the news. “He’s spent.”

That message was met with a mixed reaction from fans, but it’s not the first time Liefeld has taken aim at a major comic book studio. In 2023, the Deadpool creator set his sights on DC, saying the studio lost its way after the release of Man Of Steel and had “skip[ped] steps trying to exceed Marvel.” Given the Deadpool franchise’s penchant for fourth-wall breaking, we wouldn’t be surprised if, in the next entry, a jab was hurled Liefeld’s way as a result of his comments.  

Since starring in The White Lotus simply isn’t enough, Lisa of K-pop band BLACKPINK has announced the release of a specialized comic book in tandem with her debut album. 

What’s more, the comic book will be released under Lisa’s very own, just-announced comic company, called Lalisa Comics and created in partnership with Zero Zero Entertainment. The project will serve as an accompaniment to Lisa’s debut solo album, which is titled Alter Ego. She already tapped fellow pop stars Doja Cat and Raye for the first single of that album, “Born Again”, and now she’s adding to the hype with a 56-page comic book.

The book is titled ALTER-EGO: THE OFFICIAL COMIC, and is said to draw inspiration from the themes of its album companion. As such, it will focus on five different characters (duh! It’s Alter Ego!), namely in Roxi, Kiki, Vixi, Sunni and Speedi. Each represents a unique aspect of the 27 year-old pop star’s personality, with the comic’s official logline saying it tells a story that “embodies transformation, courage and unity.” 

On the illustration front, ALTER-EGO has tapped Japanese artist MINOMIYABI, whose credits include collaborations with fellow musicians like Gorillaz and Yungblud. Zero Zero Entertainment, meanwhile, has worked with multiple starry artists to launch comics series’ in the past, including hip-hop star Metro Boomin and Korean-American singer BoyWithUke. More broadly, the comic book world has in the past welcomed editions from the likes of The Weeknd, Gene Simmons, Coldplay and Eminem.  

Fans can pre-order ALTER-EGO: THE OFFICIAL COMIC now through Lalisa Comics’ website, with the first issue expected to ship in March. Before that, we will get Lisa’s album Alter Ego on Feb. 28 and before that, we’ll see Lisa on screens for episode two of The White Lotus. The Mike White-created series debuted the first episode of its third season this week, welcoming an all-star cast of love-to-hate elites alongside those unlucky enough to serve them. 

For her part, Lisa — in her debut acting role — plays Mook, a staff member at the show’s titular hotel branch in Thailand. While K-pop fans were initially worried about the extent and importance of Lisa’s role in the buzzy HBO series, the first episode set those concerns aside, with Mook given ample screen time and Lisa herself stealing the show at the season three premiere event in Thailand. 

Of course, within an ensemble cast like that of The White Lotus, it’s hard for anyone to truly steal the spotlight, and much of the chatter in the wake of episode one has focussed on the, shall we say, strange relationship between the Ratcliff siblings, portrayed by Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Sam Nivola. They’re ed in the ensemble by a cast so starry it warrants its own constellation, from Parker Posey to Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Natasha Rothwell and Walton Goggins. 

Oh, Aimee Lou Wood of Sex Education is also thrown in there, for extra measure. For BLACKPINK fans, though, it’s still Lisa’s show. Previous seasons have made breakout stars of Jennifer Coolidge, Simona Tabasco, Murray Bartlett and Lukas Gage, so we wouldn’t count out a similar moment for Lisa. At that point, she could add Emmy-winner to her list of accolades along with comic book writer and worldwide pop phenom. Is there anything she can’t do?

Batman may be on the back burner for DC, but James Gunn’s extended world continues to spin. In addition to his Superman movie, Kal-El’s cousin will make her solo film debut in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Gunn’s universe has already gone to task in reinventing the brand and he has recently added a familiar face to the mix. According to the Dune actor himself, Jason Momoa has been cast as the villain, Lobo. Momoa’s previous work in the DC universe is not cause for concern. After playing Arthur Curry in two Aquaman films, he will return to DC as one of his favorite characters. Momoa took to Instagram to officially drop the news. He posted a quote from an interview several years back about his hopes for his comic book future.

“I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role.'”

Momoa indicated that no one would have to twist his arm to audition for Lobo in the future. Patience is a virtue because, as Momoa succinctly said in his post, “They called.”

Momoa has now been confirmed to portray the role he has been gunning for in a surprising twist of fate.

Lobo is no Aquaman

James Gunn came into control of the DC brand at just the right moment. For the past decade, DC has been trailing behind its rival Marvel in of quality. But following the magnum opus, Endgame, there was a void to be filled. Marvel could never quite top the film and now it is DC’s time to shine. The success of Matt Reeves’ Batman started a butterfly effect that has created a new era for DC. Since Gunn took over as the creative head of the brand, he has been making waves.

Superman is one of the most anticipated films of 2025 and Supergirl already carries some heat. The role of Kara Zor-El has been awarded to House of the Dragon actor Milly Alcock. The young performer portrayed Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first half of Season 1. Jason Momoa will add to the high-profile film as a veteran of DC. His new character, however, varies distinctly from the rambunctious and fun-loving Aquaman. The illegitimate son of Queen Atlanna of Atlantis, Arthur never thought he would have real responsibilities. His desire to do good contradicts his half-brother Orm’s need for control.

In Supergirl, Momoa will lean more toward Orm on the personality scale. Lobo is an anti-hero character, first introduced to DC Comics in 1983. Hailing from the utopian planet of Czarnia, Lobo becomes a bounty hunter of the stars. After falling out of favor, the character was revitalized in the ’90s. While he was meant to be a parody of heroic characters such as Marvel’s Wolverine, he became a hit with fans — including Momoa. Viewers will have to wait for some time for the release of Supergirl, but in the meantime, can read up on some of Momoa’s favorite comic book characters.

There’s simply no artifice in James Gunn’s filmmaking. Gunn is never shy about sharing with fans exactly how he plans to build his DC universe. Unfortunately for fans, he recently revealed that he has yet to see the script for The Batman Part 2.

Gunn took to Threads to address a rumor suggesting that Clayface and Scarecrow are slated to appear as villains in The Batman Part 2. According to Gunn, Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman, has yet to submit even the first draft of the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2022 film starring Robert Pattinson. However, as the CEO of DC, Gunn has likely had discussions with Reeves about the general direction of the script and the future of his growing Gotham saga.

Reeves hasn’t left fans high and dry, though. Earlier this year, he expanded his universe with The Penguin, a series set just one week after the events of The Batman. The show connected with fans and even teased the return of the Caped Crusader in its final episode. This project was reportedly inspired by Casey Bloys, the CEO of HBO, who convinced Reeves to adapt marquee characters for television, where stories could be explored more deeply than in a feature film focused solely on Batman’s perspective. In hindsight, this was a great and timely decision — not only has the show been a hit with fans, but it has also allowed Reeves to buy time and maintain their patience.

Reeves believed The Penguin was the best candidate to launch a spin-off series and revealed in an interview with Forbes that he hopes to create more shows based on his Gotham universe. He stated that his goal with Batman is to remain ambitious and craft something truly unique. However, this expanded universe has left some fans worried about the slow development of the main story — Batman’s central narrative, presumably involving the Joker, played by Barry Keoghan. There’s also growing concern over the potential for two Batmen to coexist: Robert Pattinson’s version in Reeves’ Elseworlds Gotham and whoever is cast in the main DCU.

Even by his own standards, Reeves has taken an unusually long time to develop his follow-up to The Batman. His Planet of the Apes films never took more than three years between releases. With The Batman Part 2 currently scheduled for October 2026, the news that Reeves hasn’t even submitted a first draft may discourage fans who enjoyed his grounded take on the Caped Crusader’s exploits in the always flawed Gotham city.

According to Deadline, however, Reeves previously shared that he’s been keeping DC executives updated as he develops the script, and they’re all excited about its progress. He has promised that the sequel will reveal aspects of Gotham’s characters that fans rarely get to see on the big screen while delving deeper into the city’s rampant corruption.

With such a long wait ahead, the pressure on Matt Reeves is immense. After all this time, he cannot afford for the film to fall short. Like James Cameron has been proving with his Avatar franchise, Reeves only has one true way to silence critics: Deliver a classic.

Marvel Comics is no stranger to crossover events, and in 2025 the franchise will have one of its biggest in recent memory. The Marvel universe will need to come together to stop its greatest threat, not from the stars but from the ocean.

Godzilla is making his highly anticipated return to Marvel Comics after almost 50 years in 2025 which will see the iconic Kaiju face off against the Fantastic Four, Thor, Spider-Man, and all of your other favorite comic characters. Previously the character appeared during the 1977 run Godzilla, King of the Monsters, and now after all this time, he’s coming back.

Godzilla vs. Marvel is the next run that with collide these two forces and it’s set to run for six comics spanning a wide variety of time periods. You’ll be able to pick up issue number one in March of next year which will highlight King Ghidorah’s battle against the Fantastic Four.

The Hollywood Reporter who exclusively revealed the crossover shared further details about the first volume, Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four, explaining that the battle with King Ghidorah stemmed from the Kaiju becoming the new herald for Galactus. Surprisingly, Godzilla will be on the side of good in this comic teaming up with the Silver Surfer in attempting to save the Earth.

The return of Kaiju and Godzilla to the Marvel Comics universe is something that has been in the works for a long time. Sven Larsen the VP of licensing for Marvel spent years in discussion with Godzilla rights owner Toho to get this comic run done. Marvel editor and chief C.B. Cebulski shared that the initial plan was to simply reprint old crossover issues, but things quickly expanded into something new.

“We approached them initially for our reprints, but a while after those conversations, it was clear that both of our teams were excited to do more together. These crossovers started coming together over that time, in direct collaboration with Toho, and we felt the perfect time for them was for Godzilla’s 70th anniversary next year. We’ve been thrilled to work with them on these, and we hope this will be a sign for more exciting projects to come.”

Turning 70, Godzilla has received a ton of new content and announcements this year and it’s not just Marvel that has collaborated with the iconic Kaiju franchise. Transformers and Godzilla have collided, as have brands like Uniqlo, Funko, and a lot more. Basically, if you love Godzilla then there are a ton of new products to collect made to celebrate its 70 years of life.

No exact release date has been shared for Godzilla vs. Marvel yet, but expect the first issue to land in March 2025.
