A second trailer for Abduction has arrived and as expected, it’s no more promising than the first one was. The action pic stars Jacob Black aka Taylor Lautner, who will play Nathan Harper, a teen who realizes he was abducted and sets out to find his true identity. It plays out like a Bourne-esque thriller except for the fact that it will likely turn out far worse. Lautner may have a six pack, but he doesn’t have much talent when it comes to acting.
Luckily, he has a decent ing cast that comes in the form of Lily Collins, Alfred Molina, Jason Isaacs, Maria Bello, Michael Nyqvist, and Sigourney Weaver. Is that enough to help the film though?
It will undoubtedly sell tickets due to the fact that there are legions of Team Jacob fans out there but will it be any good? Well, let’s see.
John Singleton, the man helming the film, gave us, among others, Boyz n the Hood and Four Brothers, both of which were solid films. That being said, Abduction looks very run of the mill and I can’t see it standing out as anything special. Just from the trailers alone this looks pretty conventional and nothing to write home about.
Lautner’s lack of talent likely won’t hurt the film though, as most will flock to theatres just to see his abs (which will undoubtedly be featured), or the action scenes, which will probably be shot and choreographed well. Plus, if nothing else, it will allow audiences to familiarize themselves with Lily Collins, who will be appearing in The Brothers Grimm: Snow White.
