‘Buying himself some more votes’: TikTok exposes brutal truth of homeless Americans while Trump offers South Africans free luxury living

President Trump is trying to appeal to the most cynical corners of his base.

President Trump has been very clear that dealing with immigration has been high on his priority list. He’s claimed that Biden opened up the borders and promised that in his own term, he would be harsher and more stringent in enforcing immigration laws. But the silent part? There will be one exception: Afrikaners.

On TikTok, a viral post showed white South African refugees arriving in America. The short clip featured homeless Americans onlooking them and questioned why the government was making their arrival cushy when there are Americans struggling to make ends meet. The caption pointed out the irony, asking, “But America first?” One comment even alleged that Trump is just “buying himself some more votes.”

Of course, the latter is impossible, since Trump’s term limits have already been maxed out — no matter what his ers believe. Trump’s sudden interest in South Africa’s crime rate has been bizarre and impenetrable to many political observers. One consistent guess is that Elon Musk has been operating in the background, making requests to the Trump istration on how to frame the South African farm murders — even turning X into a haven for spreading misinformation about a supposed white genocide. Despite it being disproved multiple times.

Trump’s handling of the South African issue hit a fever pitch when he invited refugees from the country, claiming they were being targeted by fellow Africans. He insisted that the South African government was ignoring these attacks specifically because the victims were white. He even invited South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and confronted him with “evidence” of the targeting of white farmers. But now, the facts and the numbers are exposing just how misinformed Trump actually was.

President Trump is currently trying to push a bill that would remove the lowest earners from Medicaid coverage, so perhaps this is not the time to go on such a needless crusade. That contradiction becomes even more glaring considering how ruthlessly he is treating other immigrants — even deporting some illegally. Most of the commenters on that viral TikTok are simply asking for consistency: if you’re going to focus solely on internal issues, then don’t make exceptions — especially not for fictitious claims of genocide.

The Intercept recently released a report revealing that the roughly 50 people who actually relocated from South Africa are widely considered a joke in their own country. Apparently, the whole thing is being orchestrated by a white South African solidarity group called AfriForum, which is trying to score political points. It’s quite a shame that they’re being prioritized when there’s an actual brutal war going on in Gaza.

President Trump likes a show. And for him, this seemed like an easy way to get the most cynical corners of his base riled up about some supposed great injustice happening to white people somewhere in the world. What makes it especially sickening is that he has completely ignored the growing inequality within that very base while pulling this stunt. And that’s what people are really wondering — when will he finally get to that?
