Rodgers needs to retire. ]]>
<![CDATA[

NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers just can’t help himself. While most quarterbacks spend their offseasons training or, say, not publicly spouting off half-baked opinions, Rodgers decided to take a different route: hopping on The Joe Rogan Experience to deliver yet another masterclass in why he’s currently an unsigned free agent. 1l204h

Rodgers’ latest gem? “The trans woman movement is actually anti-woman.” Yes, really. That quote alone should raise eyebrows, but it’s just the latest entry in Rodgers’ growing highlight reel of head-scratching tin foil hat takes, and cultural grievance cosplay.

The four-time NFL MVP might still have some juice left in his arm, but he’s clearly more invested in becoming the next Jordan Peterson than finding a new locker room.

“It’s not about inclusivity anymore” 4r375

Rodgers made the inflammatory statement during a recent episode of Rogan’s show, in which the two discussed everything from gender identity to COVID conspiracies (because, of course, they did). Rodgers, looking more like a wellness influencer than a Super Bowl champion, went on a rant accusing the trans rights movement of “erasing real women” and “pushing a political agenda that’s silencing women’s voices.”

Rodgers added, “The trans woman movement is actually anti-woman. It’s not about inclusivity anymore; it’s about domination, control, and silencing biological women. You can’t even say ‘woman’ without getting canceled now.” Cancel culture. Transphobia. Misogyny. All in under 30 seconds. A true triple threat.

Rodgers’ history of controversial commentary 5q336f

If this seems par for the course, that’s because it is. Rodgers has a long history of making statements that sound like they came straight out of a Reddit forum.

In 2021, he infamously misled the public by saying he was “immunized” against COVID-19, when in fact he had refused the vaccine. He later doubled down in multiple interviews, parroting discredited anti-vaccine rhetoric and championing “natural immunity.” ESPN covered the fallout extensively.

Then came his stint on The Pat McAfee Show, where Rodgers frequently spewed conspiracy theories and took potshots at “woke culture” and the media. In short, he’s become the NFL’s loudest voice for locker room libertarianism.

Now, with his anti-trans and anti-woman comments, Rodgers appears determined to alienate yet another swath of fans — and possibly front offices.

Rodgers’ NFL status: still jobless 2x5v5k

As of May 2025, Aaron Rodgers remains unsigned and unemployed. After tearing his Achilles just four plays into his debut with the New York Jets in the 2023 season, Rodgers missed the entire year. Rumors swirled about a miraculous comeback late in the season, but it never materialized. Rodgers underperformed in 2024, and his contract was terminated in early 2025. No team has picked him up since.

Why would they? At 41, Rodgers is injury-prone, expensive, and — let’s face it — a PR nightmare. Teams might tolerate your diva behavior when you’re dropping 40 touchdowns a season. But when your main contribution is alienating marginalized communities on podcast mics? Not so much.

Jake Retzlaff, the celebrated starting quarterback for Brigham Young University (BYU), finds himself at the center of a shocking civil lawsuit filed on May 21, 2025, in Salt Lake County, Utah.

The suit accuses Retzlaff of sexual assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, stemming from an alleged incident in November 2023 at his residence in Provo, Utah.

Retzlaff’s acc says she met the football star through social media 13642o

The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe A.G., claims she met Retzlaff through social media. During a visit to his home, she alleges that after initially consenting to some physical , she withdrew consent, but Retzlaff proceeded to assault her.

The lawsuit alleging “intentional infliction of emotional distress” details that she asked him to stop. Allegedly, he ignored her protests and forcibly continued, including an alleged incident of strangulation, resulting in physical injuries.

Following the incident, Jane Doe underwent a forensic rape examination and documented her injuries. She initially reported the assault to Provo police without naming Retzlaff, alleging that authorities discouraged her from doing so, telling her “sexual assault victims never get justice.”

The Provo Police Department has denied these claims, stating that their investigators and victim advocates followed protocols but were unable to proceed due to a lack of actionable information at the time.

According to Reuters, Retzlaff, through his attorney Mark Baute—known for defending NBA player Derrick Rose in a 2016 federal sexual assault case—has declared himself “factually innocent.” Baute emphasized their intent to prove Retzlaff’s innocence in court and criticized the media for trying cases outside the judicial system.

BYU has acknowledged awareness of the lawsuit and stated that it will follow all processes and guidelines mandated by Title IX. Due to federal and university privacy laws, the university declined to provide additional comments .

‘They ROBBED the man of a dream’ 654o5t Baseball ban on ‘Shoeless’ Jackson lifted after 104 years and the world is left disgusted https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/sports/they-robbed-the-man-of-a-dream-baseball-ban-on-shoeless-jackson-lifted-after-104-years-and-the-world-is-left-disgusted/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/sports/they-robbed-the-man-of-a-dream-baseball-ban-on-shoeless-jackson-lifted-after-104-years-and-the-world-is-left-disgusted/#respond <![CDATA[Fred Onyango]]> Wed, 14 May 2025 14:51:36 +0000 <![CDATA[News]]> <![CDATA[Sports]]> https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1851889 <![CDATA[
Too little too late.]]>
<![CDATA[

The MLB commissioner, Rob Manfred, finally removed Pete Rose and ‘Shoeless’ Joe Jackson from the ineligibility list to their peers down in Cooperstown.

ESPN broke the news that after years of disagreements, debates, and very differing opinions, they decided the two players who got banned for the “mortal” sin of gambling are finally going to be eligible for the sport’s coveted Hall of Fame. Although Pete Rose and Joe Jackson’s bans are technically for the same crime, their circumstances could not be any different, and fans find it completely unacceptable that it took this long for Joe Jackson to finally get his due.

First of all, with Pete “Charlie Hustle” Rose — his case of gambling is clear-cut. In 1991, he was banned from the sport for gambling on his team, which is certainly a lack of sportsmanship and is always frowned upon by peers. If you can throw a game, then you don’t respect the game. Across all sports, that’s always been a mark of shame. And while Rose had denied his claim for years, ESPN found undeniable evidence that Rose was indeed guilty of what he was accused of.

Furthermore, Rose was never particularly apologetic. While later on in his life, Rose finally itted to gambling on his own game, he was still arrogant about the entire matter and made it clear that it’s not like he was Al Capone. Being banned from Baseball is not exactly the same as being sent to Alcatraz, but it’s needless to say, baseball fans were not entirely impressed by his claim to a ticket to Cooperstown.

But with Joe “Shoeless” Jackson, the public feels an entirely different way. Jackson played in the league way before World War 1, and his ascension from illiterate cotton mill worker to baseball star is the stuff of dreams. He is the embodiment of the American dream. Even his story about playing baseball without shoes just expresses how Jackson was salt of the earth.

However, what makes Jackson’s case more unique is that his case of gambling is more complex. It’s believed that he was persuaded to sign a waiver that implicated him as being a part of the infamous Black Sox scandal. With time and retrospective interviews, it’s been found out that Jackson’s stats didn’t dip during the 1919 World Series and that he didn’t understand what he was g. And there’s the fact that he died in 1951, which means his case has been long overdue. It takes a lot to be an athlete, especially if you come from nothing. For many fans — Jackson deserved better.

On X, the decision came a little too late. One reminded people that Rose had already said he didn’t want to the Hall of Fame anymore.

Another just noted “they robbed a man of a dream.”

One was more concerned with the 106 years Jackson had to wait.

According to reports, this decision came after President Trump’s outreach to him. Trump has been reaching a lot of sports commissioners, and he had a particular soft spot for Pete Rose, so he was going to do all he can to get him in the Hall of Fame.

Now the decision will rest on baseball legends on whether Rose and Jackson deserve a place in the Hall of Fame when they vote later this year.

Is seeing the World Cup worth the risk of being imprisoned by ICE?]]>
<![CDATA[

FIFA likely breathed a sigh of relief when the 2022 Qatar World Cup ended. That tournament was riddled with controversies, ranging from exploited workers, human rights abuses, and protests against repressive religious laws. But World Cup 2026 was set to be in the safe hands of Canada, Mexico, and the United States – what could possibly go wrong?

Well, Canada and Mexico remain reliable partners, but the same can’t be said about the United States. Yesterday, Donald Trump convened the first meeting of his istration’s 2026 World Cup task force and, along with JD Vance, strongly indicated they’re not rolling out the red carpet for international visitors.

Vance appears fixated on the possibility of millions of international soccer fans arriving in the United States for the tournament and refusing to leave. After insisting that he’s very cool with World Cup tourists, he quickly struck a darker note and said, “when the time is up, they’ll have to go home. Otherwise, they’ll have to talk to Secretary Noem.”

Ah, nothing like thinly veiled threats of deportation to drum up enthusiasm for the World Cup! All this comes against the backdrop of America’s collapsing tourism economy, largely driven by entirely justified fears about what’ll happen if border security decides they don’t like the look of you.

This has already seen British and Canadian tourists shackled and tossed into ICE detention centers, sometimes left there for weeks as their frantic families try to figure out where their loved ones are. Even simply going through the United States border is now a gamble, particularly as guards are apparently insisting on checking visitors’ phones to ensure they haven’t said anything critical of America and its glorious leader.

Tourism collapse 6a317

As such, many are staying away. In December, research group Tourism Economics projected that America would see an 8.8% increase in international tourists, with a 16% increase in their spending. Then the Trump effect hit, with Tourism Economics now predicting a 9.4 percent decline in international visitor arrivals, potentially costing the country $9 billion.

There are also major questions about whether the country is equipped to handle an influx of World Cup visitors, players, and team staff. The US Travel Association has issued a report containing a dire warning that massive government cuts have left the visa system on its knees: “We’re not ready to host the mega decade of events that will draw millions of domestic and international travelers. This poses risks to our national security and hampers economic growth.

Looking further into the future, we have the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, which will come with its own difficulties when it comes to visitors from around the world descending on the country. But by that point, who can say what America will look like? Either way, if you want to attend the next World Cup, maybe stick to the Canadian and Mexican matches unless you want to end up in ICE detention.

We're not surprised that Belichick's new girl is high-handed and controlling at this point.]]>
<![CDATA[

Bill Belichick may have wanted his post-NFL career to be peaceful, but that’s unlikely to happen now, thanks, in part, to his girlfriend Jordon Hudson’s off-the-field power plays.

Insiders close to the situation revealed to Page Six that Hudson, 24, a former cheerleader turned self-made business mogul, made a list of eyebrow-raising demands before production could roll on a now-scrapped season of the NFL Films docies “Hard Knocks,” which was supposedly set to follow Belichick’s new role as head coach at the University of North Carolina after his prolific career with the NFL.

Among Hudson’s alleged demands were a credit as executive producer and access to daily footage from the set. Unfortunately, producers immediately anticipated how grueling the production process would be with her around, so they shut down the project even before it could start.

“The ‘Hard Knocks’ people were like, we can’t deal with this goodbye, and they walked away,” one source told the outlet and quipped, “Sorry it’s not like you’re Priscilla Presley.”

Trouble was already brewing when The Athletic reported that Hudson’s “request to be heavily involved” significantly derailed the “Hard Knocks” project. Production had just begun on March 1, with cameras ready to roll on Belichick’s first college season. But by March 3, just two days in, the entire operation was shut down.

“The conversation took a turn we were not comfortable with,” wrote NFL vice president Jessica Boddy in an email obtained by The Athletic, confirming that the show was no longer moving forward.

More trouble for Belichick courtesy of Hudson 2xk6j

Aside from the failed docies, Hudson allegedly has her hands full with her boyfriend’s other endeavors. For example, she filed for 14 trademarks with the federal office via her self-made holding company, Trouble Cub Enterprises, with the goal of reclaiming the former NFL coach’s iconic catchphrases like “Do Your Job” and “Ignore the Noise.” We hear she’s taking cues from Taylor Swift‘s re-recording playbook by adding “(Bill’s Version)” to the catchphrase trademarks.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Hudson served as COO of Belichick Productions (Coach Show) from August 2024 to February 2025. There’s no available explanation as to why she ended her tenure as COO of her boyfriend’s production company, but it’s clear that she now has more control over Belichick’s career. In his new memoir, The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football, Belichick himself referred to Hudson as his creative muse.

In a statement he released after his CBS Sunday Morning interview with Hudson drew flak online, Belichick also indicated that he and Hudson share a “personal and professional relationship.” Perhaps it’s his way of saying that his girlfriend has a say in everything he does from now on. In return, Belichick serves as Hudson’s knight in shining armor, as proven by how he defended her from the negative press stories after the interview aired.

During the interview, the 73-year-old coach was asked about how he and Hudson met, a valid inquiry given their 49-year age gap. However, Hudson quickly redirected the conversation by suggesting that they stick to discussing Belichick’s memoir. The awkward moment quickly raised eyebrows and prompted criticisms against the NFL icon and his girlfriend.

After learning of the backlash, Belichick went out of his way to defend Hudson’s antics by insisting that they only agreed to the interview if it were to focus solely on his new book. However, CBS has since rebutted his claim, saying that the interview was intended to be “wide-ranging” and that “there were no preconditions or limitations” before filming.

Belichick is willing to be Hudson's knight in shining armor amid the media frenzy. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Bill Belichick has built a career surrounding himself with quarterbacks and athletes and not so much with press people. Well, that is until he made a U-turn in 2024 and started rubbing elbows with the media in a move many viewed as a “public relations makeover.” But just as the former NFL coach was becoming the darling of the press, his relationship with the press people was again tested because of his now-controversial girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.

Belichick, 73, has lashed out at CBS for allegedly playing dirty and spreading a “false narrative” when it came to coverage of his 24-year-old partner. The issue started when the former New England Patriots general manager had an interview with CBS Sunday Morning as part of his promotions for his new memoir, The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football. After the segment aired, Belichick took a swipe at the network and reporter Tony Dokoupil for allegedly veering off course during the interview.

“Prior to this interview, I clearly communicated with my publicist at Simon & Schuster that any promotional interviews I participated in would agree to focus solely on the contents of the book. Unfortunately, that expectation was not honored during the interview,” Belichick said in an emailed statement sent to People via his current employer, the University of North Carolina. According to him, instead of sticking to the X’s and O’s, Dokoupil fumbled into tabloid territory and painted Hudson, who was with him during the interview, in a bad light.

In the released interview, CBS seemingly highlighted the awkward reaction from Belichick and Hudson when asked for details about how they first met — an intriguing question considering the 49-year age gap between the two. The couple raised eyebrows and even received flak online for seemingly evading the inquiry. In particular, Hudson became a hot topic since she was the one to step in and redirect the course of the interview.

Belichick’s attempt at shielding Hudson from the negative press 4i1yf

To clear his girlfriend’s name, Belichick clarified Hudson’s role in the interview. “I was surprised when unrelated topics were introduced… After this occurred several times, Jordon, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion.” The former collegiate cheerleader used to be the chief operating officer of Belichick Productions (Coach Show), based on her LinkedIn profile.

It’s unclear how involved Hudson is in her beau’s work and business engagements since she’s now the CEO of a self-made holding company. However, considering how Belichick allowed her to take control of the situation during the interview, it seems she has a bigger role in the six-time Super Bowl winner’s life. He even called her his “creative muse” in his book. “She was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track,” Belichick clarified.

As for their reaction to the off-topic question, Belichick only had this to say: “Some of the clips make it appear as though we were avoiding the question of how we met, but we have been open about the fact that Jordon and I met on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021. The final eight-minute segment does not reflect the productive 35-minute conversation we had, which covered a wide range of topics related to my career.”

However, CBS did not back down from Belichick’s accusations. The network also released a statement to People, maintaining that the interview was intended to be “wide-ranging” and that “there were no preconditions or limitations” before filming. Belichick has yet to respond to CBS’s argument, but that’s the least of his worries for now since Hudson’s also catching heat for retweeting a post suggesting her boyfriend should have “strangled” the reporter.

Roy Cooper, the legendary rodeo cowboy renowned as the “Super Looper,” tragically died in a fire on Tuesday night, April 29, 2025, at his house in Decatur, Texas. He was 69 years old. The fire, reported at 7:08 p.m., engulfed Cooper’s home.

Cooper’s son, four-time world champion roper Tuf Cooper, confirmed the devastating news that Roy had died on Facebook: “It is with great sadness that our family shares the ing of our Dad, The Super Looper, Roy Cooper. We’re all in shock and at a loss for words at the moment.” The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

“Heartbroken to hear of the ing of Roy Cooper” 3h4q4f

Born November 13, 1955, in Hobbs, New Mexico, Roy Dale Cooper overcame childhood asthma to become one of the most dominant ropers in rodeo history. He earned the nickname “Super Looper” for his exceptional tie-down roping skills. In 1976, his rookie year, Cooper won the PRCA Rookie of the Year and his first tie-down roping world championship.

Throughout his illustrious career, Cooper amassed eight world championships and achieved the rare Rodeo Triple Crown, winning titles in tie-down roping, steer roping, and all-around categories.

Cooper’s influence extended beyond his achievements. He mentored his three sons—Clint, Clif, and Tuf—who all became professional rodeo competitors. In 2010, the trio made history by qualifying for the National Finals Rodeo in the same event, marking the first time three brothers achieved this feat.

After Cooper died, Andra Estes Beatty, a 2020 Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame inductee, said, “Heartbroken to hear of the ing of Roy Cooper, an eight-time world champion calf roper and a true legend in the arena. He inspired generations of cowboys and his legacy lives on. Praying for comfort and peace for his family during this time.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cooper family after the tragic accident that took place tonight,” an Oklahoma rodeo group said in a statement, according to The U.S. Sun. “The rodeo world will forever mourn the loss of Roy,” the group added.

“I really have no regrets” 5e652m

Fans and peers alike Cooper not only for his unparalleled skill but also for his humility and dedication to family. In a February 2025 “Let’s Freakin Rodeo” podcast interview, Cooper said, “You get my age, man, all you got is memories, old memories. I don’t want to look back when I’m 65 years old and say I wished I had done that… I really have no regrets.”

Why was Mike Malone fired? The Denver Nuggets termination 531a3x explained https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/sports/why-was-mike-malone-fired-the-denver-nuggets-termination-explained/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/sports/why-was-mike-malone-fired-the-denver-nuggets-termination-explained/#respond <![CDATA[Jorge Aguilar]]> Wed, 09 Apr 2025 15:40:00 +0000 <![CDATA[Sports]]> <![CDATA[Denver Nuggets]]> https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1846821 <![CDATA[

The Denver Nuggets shocked the NBA when they suddenly fired head coach Michael Malone and General Manager Calvin Booth with just three games left in the regular season. While the team’s owners claimed the move was meant to boost their chances of winning the 2025 championship, a closer look shows that multiple issues led to this extreme decision.

While we could go with the official statement released by the Nuggets, there’s more to it. Josh Kroenke, who helps run Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, said “This decision was not made lightly and was evaluated very carefully, and we do it only with the intention of giving our group the best chance at competing for the 2025 NBA Championship and delivering another title to Denver and our fans everywhere.”

This vague statement left people guessing about the real reasons. As reported by Bleacher Report and Basket News, One big problem was the team’s recent poor performance. Even though the Nuggets won a franchise-record 57 games the year before, they struggled in the 2024 to 2025 season, especially during a four-game losing streak. Their offense and defense both got worse, raising doubts about whether they could go far in the playoffs.

The team looked especially weak when their star player, Nikola Jokic, wasn’t on the court, which made people question the coaching and roster decisions. Per USA Today, Calvin Booth, the General Manager, also faced criticism. He made some good moves early on, like bringing in Bruce Brown and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, but later decisions backfired. Losing those two players and adding questionable pieces like Russell Westbrook and Dario Šarić hurt the team.

Trading experienced players for younger ones didn’t work out, leaving the roster unbalanced. Other gs, like expensive deals for Zeke Nnaji and Reggie Jackson, also didn’t pay off, showing problems in how the team was built.

Another issue was the reported tension between Malone and Booth. Sources say the two barely communicated and even disliked each other, which hurt the team’s management and chemistry. Their disagreements—Malone wanting veterans and Booth preferring young players—made things worse and slowed the team’s progress. This “cold war” behind the scenes likely made their on-court struggles even worse.

Firing both men right before the playoffs was a strange and risky move. The owners said they wanted quick improvement, but making such big changes so late in the season could backfire. A new coach and disrupted team chemistry might hurt the Nuggets’ playoff chances instead of helping.

In the end, the Nuggets’ decision to fire Malone and Booth came from several problems: the team’s recent slump, Booth’s questionable roster moves, and the bad relationship between the coach and GM. While the owners hope for quick results, the timing of the firings is a gamble. Whether the Nuggets succeed now depends on how well they handle these changes and fix the deeper issues that caused this shake-up.

Vanessa Bryant’s eight-word social media post, “Gigi would have loved being there with you,” struck a deep chord with basketball fans. It perfectly captured the strong emotional tie between the Bryant family and the University of Connecticut (UConn) women’s basketball team after UConn’s impressive national championship win.

Vanessa posted on Instagram after the Huskies won their 12th national title by beating the top-seeded South Carolina Gamecocks with a convincing 82-59 victory. The championship was a touching tribute to Gianna “Gigi” Bryant, Vanessa and Kobe Bryant’s daughter, who died tragically in a helicopter crash in 2020 along with her father and seven others. Gigi, a talented young basketball player, had a strong dream of one day playing for the UConn Huskies.

Athlon Sports reported UConn’s head coach, Geno Auriemma, ed Gigi’s excitement when they first met: “You could see it in her eyes—she was so thrilled. Think about how amazing that is: her father was Kobe Bryant, and yet the thing that made her happiest was being around college women’s basketball players. That’s how much it meant to her. That’s what she wanted to be.” Gigi’s public dream of playing for UConn became the foundation of the emotional connection between her family and the team.

Gigi’s love for the Huskies wasn’t just a casual interest. Trained by her father, Kobe Bryant—who started coaching her after retiring from the NBA in 2016—Gigi showed incredible skill and dedication on the court. Her talent suggested she could have been part of the very UConn team that won the national championship.

April 4 would have been Gigi’s 19th birthday, making the team’s victory feel like a celebration of her life and what she could have achieved. After her death, the UConn program honored Gigi in several ways. A No. 2 Huskies jersey and a bouquet of flowers were placed on the team’s bench as a visible reminder of their loss and a lasting tribute to her.

The bond between the Bryant family and UConn goes beyond Gigi’s dream. Paige Bueckers, a standout UConn guard and likely No. 1 pick in the next WNBA draft, has said she found inspiration in Kobe Bryant while recovering from an ACL injury. Bueckers shared that she studied Kobe’s “Mamba Mentality” and used his approach to overcoming challenges as motivation during her rehab.

Vanessa Bryant’s short but heartfelt message emphasized how much Gigi’s dream still means to the UConn women’s basketball program. The victory wasn’t just about the team’s success on the court; it was also a tribute to Gigi’s ion for the game and the potential she never got to fulfill. The team’s performance, earning their 12th national title, also made them the most successful college basketball program in history.

What did Stephen A. The analyst was open to discussing matters privately, but the NBA star handled it differently. ]]>

LeBron James and Stephen A. Smith‘s courtside confrontation at Madison Square Garden has set the sports world on fire. The heated exchange, caught on video, saw the NBA legend approach the outspoken ESPN analyst during the Lakers’ overtime win against the Knicks. While the audio remains unclear, LeBron’s body language strongly suggested that the tense moment was personal.

Smith is known for his brash opinions about professional athletes, so it was a shock to see him appearing momentarily stunned as LeBron leaned in to say something to him before abruptly walking away. Social media detectives have since dissected the viral clip, with many speculating that LeBron might have aggressively urged Smith to keep his son’s name out of the latter’s mouth.

Smith has been a vocal critic of James’ 20-year-old son, Bronny James. The ESPN personality has been questioning whether Bronny, who has struggled in his first 13 NBA games, truly earned his spot on the Lakers’ roster or if nepotism played a role for him to get in. Smith has repeatedly pointed out the younger James’ underwhelming stats, arguing that while his defensive skills show promise, his surname carries more weight than his performance on the basketball court.

As a father, the NBA superstar purportedly did not let this slide when he encountered Smith. However, James has been tightlipped ever since their confrontation. Smith, on the other hand, addressed the viral moment on ESPN’s The First Take. He clarified that their encounter was mostly driven by James’ fatherly instincts. Hence, he did not see it as a professional basketball player striking an argument with a journalist.

“That wasn’t a basketball player confronting me. That was a parent… [LeBron] clearly took exception to some of the things I said… He elected to confront me while I was sitting courtside… He feels like I was slighting his son,” Smith said. The analyst went on to say he had no intention of discussing the moment publicly but felt forced to after the footage exploded online.

He continued, “Can’t repeat the words because they ain’t suited for FCC airwaves, that’s what he was doing. And I thought long and hard about this over the last few hours cause I had no intention on talking about this at all. And the reason was because it was a one-on-one, I wouldn’t say it was a conversation but it was a one-on-one confrontation.”

LeBron has been very protective of his family, so it does not come as a surprise that he is taking issue with what he perceived as an unfair attack on Bronny. And while Smith insisted he harbors no ill will toward the father and son, he maintained that the issue could have been handled differently. He said that the Lakers star’s camp has his number and could have reached out to him privately. “[But] that is not what he elected to do. Instead, he elected to confront me while I was sitting courtside,” Smith explained.

Smith, who is in the process of negotiating a five-year, $100 million deal with ESPN per Fox Sports, maintained that, if anything, his analysis has never been a personal attack against James’ son. He was only pointing out the father’s influence on his son’s career. Outside of it, he said he only wants what’s best for Bronny and see him flourish into an NBA star.
