Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez didn’t miss her moment when asked about the Donald Trump, Elon Musk billionaire bromance gone bad.

With a sly smile and enough shade to blot out the sun, she told Spectrum 1 News, “Oh, man, the girls are fighting, aren’t they? You know, I would say that this was something that was a long time coming… these two huge egos were not long for being together in this world as friends.”

Translation? We all saw this meltdown coming, and AOC is here for the fireworks—with popcorn.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has officially endorsed fellow Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani as her first choice for New York City mayor in the June 24 primary. The progressive congresswoman revealed her preferred slate of candidates in an interview with The New York Times on Thursday, ranking Adrienne Adams, Brad Lander, Scott Stringer, and Zellnor Myrie after Mamdani.

According to Politico, the endorsement comes at a crucial time in the primary season, with only nine days remaining before early voting begins. Mamdani, who has been consistently polling in second place, has been gaining ground on front-runner and former Governor Andrew Cuomo in recent weeks.

“Assemblymember Mamdani has demonstrated a real ability on the ground to put together a coalition of working-class New Yorkers that is strongest to lead the pack,” Ocasio-Cortez told the Times, highlighting the overlap between their districts and political platforms. She emphasized the importance of getting “very real” about the race in its final stretch.

Progressive alliance faces uphill battle against former governor

Despite Ocasio-Cortez’s significant political influence, Cuomo maintains his position as the front-runner, leading by double digits throughout the race. The former governor, who resigned in 2021 following sexual harassment allegations, has secured endorsements from several congressional representatives, including Ritchie Torres, Greg Meeks, and Adriano Espaillat.

Mamdani, 33, shares progressive values with Ocasio-Cortez, 35, and represents parts of Queens alongside her. His campaign has focused on attracting younger, left-leaning voters with promises of free and rapid bus service, rent freezes, and increased taxation on wealthy residents.

The race has intensified recently, with Cuomo and Mamdani engaging in a heated exchange during Wednesday’s debate, co-hosted by Politico and WNBC-NY, over who would be better equipped to challenge President Donald Trump. The debate featured nine contenders, with Cuomo being the primary target of criticism.

ers of non-Cuomo candidates, including those d with the DREAM (Don’t Rank Evil Andrew for Mayor) movement, are leveraging the city’s ranked-choice voting system as a strategy to prevent Cuomo’s political comeback. However, the left-leaning candidates opposing him have yet to establish a unified front through cross-endorsements, and Ocasio-Cortez has indicated that no t appearances are currently planned.

Recently, a rumor has been circulating which states that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s brother had been arrested and charged after being caught with $1.2 million worth of fentanyl. Naturally some MAGA folk have jumped on this news, using it as some sort of “gotcha” moment, although maybe they should have checked the source before spreading the story.

It seems the right are looking for any excuse to come after AOC, probably because they know she’s one of the few capable of exposing their stupidity. One video posted this week to TikTok by Trump er, “Mamawendi,” received thousands of views and likes. The clip, which has since been deleted, shared a Facebook post claiming that AOC’s brother, Matthew, had been caught by the coast guard with a boatload of fentanyl on the waters of Lake Superior.

The danger of fake news

A fake news article appearing in satirical outlet, The Dunning-Kruger Times, elaborated on the rumor. The article cites Vice iral Joe Barron who claims there was “credible information of a drug buy” but that they weren’t expecting such a high-profile individual to be onboard, “we were expecting some amateur traffickers, not someone with a 23andMe link to Congress.”

According to Snopes, the rumor spread on social media after numerous Facebook, Threads, and TikTok posts shared the news. It seems people mistook The Dunning-Kruger Times article as a genuine piece of reporting. The article was shared on right-wing Facebook groups and by influencers who didn’t think to fact-check any of it. Sounds about right for MAGA if you ask me.

AOC doesn’t even have a brother called Matthew

The sad thing is it would have been the easiest thing in the world to check the validity of the story. Simply Googling Alexandria’s siblings would have told you that “Matthew” doesn’t even exist. The Vice iral “Joe Barron” who is quoted in the article also doesn’t exist. However, AOC does actually have a brother, but his name isn’t Matthew. Gabriel Ocasio-Cortez is a real person and no, he has not trafficked any drugs.

The fake news gained so much traction that Gabriel actually caught wind of it and responded with his own TikTok. In his response he claims he has no idea why they’re posting this, “I work with the homeless, I have nothing to do with this story.” He ends the video asking MAGA ers to “please find something better to do with your time.”

The confidence some of these MAGA folk have displayed while sharing this very obviously fake piece of news is astounding. Listen, we all fall for misinformation sometimes, but if you’re going to broadcast something to potentially thousands of followers it’s important to know the difference between fact and fiction. A lot of Trump ers are clearly against the use of critical thought but this is just embarrassing.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has once again demonstrated her uncanny ability to sniff out profit opportunities faster than a bloodhound. But Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez saw right through Greene’s antics.

At a “Fight Oligarchy” event with Bernie Sanders, AOC went straight for the jugular. Speaking to a crowd of fired-up progressives, she called Greene out in no uncertain . “We saw Marjorie Taylor Greene buy that dip,” she said. “How much did you make off of people’s despair? How much did you make off of that panic? How much did you make off of that suffering? No more. We can’t accept it.” It was a moment that perfectly captured what so many Americans have been feeling for years: frustration, anger, and exhaustion with a system that seems rigged in favor of the powerful.

The controversy centers around Donald Trump’s chaotic tariff policy, which sent the stock market into a tailspin before sharply rebounding. On April 2, Trump announced sweeping tariffs on Chinese imports, coupled with reciprocal tariffs on goods from other countries. Wall Street reacted with panic, and over two days, the market lost $6.6 trillion in value, marking one of the worst plunges in U.S. history. Just days later, on April 9, Trump reversed course, declaring a 90-day pause on the reciprocal tariffs.

This reversal, announced alongside his now-infamous Truth Social post, “THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!!,” sent the markets into a frenzy, with the Nasdaq surging 12% and the S&P 500 climbing 10%, marking one of the largest rebounds since World War II. While everyday investors were scrambling to recover from the chaos, Greene’s financial disclosures show she was making moves that raised eyebrows. Greene reportedly dumped between $50,000 and $100,000 in U.S. Treasury bills just before the market tanked. Then, during the rebound, she purchased between $21,000 and $315,000 worth of stocks, including shares in Apple, Devon Energy, and Advanced Micro Devices—all of which saw significant gains following Trump’s tariff pause. Notably, she also bought Palantir, which has since surged by 19%.

When questioned about the trades, Greene denied any wrongdoing, stating that her investments are managed by a financial advisor. “I have signed a fiduciary agreement to allow my financial advisor to control my investments. All of my investments are reported with full transparency,” Greene said in a statement. Her spokesperson dismissed any accusations of impropriety as “utterly absurd.” But the timing of the trades has drawn intense scrutiny. Greene claims she has no direct involvement in her portfolio, but critics argue that her position as a lawmaker grants her access to sensitive information that influences market behavior. Even if she didn’t personally direct the trades, the optics are undeniably bad. After all, how many Americans had the foresight—or the means—to perfectly time the market like Greene’s portfolio appears to have done?

AOC isn’t alone in calling out Greene. Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries also weighed in, calling Greene “Exhibit A” in a system he described as rife with “crooks, liars, and frauds.” Speaking to Jen Psaki in an interview, Jeffries said, “We are seeing corruption unfold before us in real time.” Like AOC, he called for a ban on stock trading by lawmakers, a reform that has bipartisan among voters but faces resistance within Congress itself.

The ground shook in Downtown Los Angeles this weekend as Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez unleashed a verbal barrage that left Donald Trump’s gilded reputation in tatters.

It was a seismic event that drew 36,000 attendees, transforming the park into a roaring sea of progressives who’d clearly had enough of billionaire-friendly policies. When was the last time you saw 36,000 people show up for anything political that didn’t involve Taylor Swift? (And no, despite what Elon Musk might tweet, they weren’t paid to be there.)

The event, part of Sanders and AOC’s “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, was the progressive movement at its most unapologetic. Sanders delivered his signature righteous indignation, calling out Trump’s “tariff shuffle” as a scheme to help his billionaire cronies cash in while ordinary Americans watched their savings take a nosedive. AOC, meanwhile, took the gloves off and went straight for the jugular, calling Trump a “criminal” and accusing him of meddling with the stock market. She accused him of tanking markets one day, tipping off his billionaire buddies to “buy the dip,” and then reversing course the next day to send stocks soaring.

It’s the kind of move that makes you wonder if Trump thinks “insider trading” is just another perk of being president. And even if it’s not true, the fact that it’s plausible says a lot about where we are as a country. The New York congresswoman hit particularly hard when discussing what she called the “terrifying” current political climate. “We are watching our neighbors, students, and friends being fired, targeted, and disappeared,” she said, highlighting cases of activists being detained without charges.

Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez both framed the fight against oligarchy as a moral and existential battle. Sanders described billionaires as “very religious people,” but not in the way one might think. “Their religion is greed,” he said. “Greed, greed, and more greed. That’s what drives them. And they’ll do whatever it takes to protect their wealth, even if it means wrecking the planet, destroying the economy, and leaving millions behind.”

Whether you love Sanders and AOC or hate them, you can’t deny that they’ve tapped into something real. Something powerful. Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just about Trump or tariffs or even billionaires. It’s about a fundamental question: what kind of country do we want to be? If Sanders and AOC have their way, it’s a country where greed doesn’t get to call the shots. And judging by the crowd in Los Angeles, a lot of people seem to agree.

‘I’m going to be real clear’: Marjorie Taylor Greene threatens to throw down after being triggered by, yes, a cartoon https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/politics/im-going-to-be-real-clear-marjorie-taylor-greene-threatens-to-throw-down-after-being-triggered-by-yes-a-cartoon/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/politics/im-going-to-be-real-clear-marjorie-taylor-greene-threatens-to-throw-down-after-being-triggered-by-yes-a-cartoon/#respond Tue, 11 Mar 2025 00:00:20 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1841669 Jasmine Crockett and AOC are the latest subjects of MTG's unending antics. ]]>

Marjorie Taylor Greene has seemingly been triggered by a cartoon, but spoiler alert, it’s not the one who sits behind the Resolute Desk.

The fierce Donald Trump loyalist recently took to social media to react to a stick figure cartoon shared by Jasmine Crockett. It shows two animated figures, named as Crockett and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, beating down on a third cartoon human labelled as “Republicans.” While for most it was a playful reminder of Crockett and AOC’s consistent ability to keep Trump and his allies’ feet to the fire, it was a threat for Greene, who responded in kind. “I’m going to be real clear,” she wrote on X, “if they try with me, this would not workout [sic] for either of these psychos like this stupid little cartoon depicts.”

One could argue that the “psycho” is the one aggravated by a silly little cartoon to the point of threatening a throwdown (snowflake, much?), but it’s clearly the result of Cockett and AOC’s masterclass in getting under Greene’s skin. For her part, AOC last year mocked the “very prestigious” appointment of Greene as the chair of Trump’s DOGE committee, after which Greene described AOC as a “total clown.” More broadly, AOC has held the Trump istration to by pleading with Republicans to consider the implications of Elon Musk’s ascendance, and becoming the subject of threats made by Trump’s border czar

As a visual, these efforts might look something like a stick figure giving a walloping to Republicans, but Crockett has been equally forceful in her criticism of the Trump istration. The Democratic politician has, among other things, made her thoughts on Musk clear with an eloquent message that begins with the letter F, warned us of Trump’s chummy relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and described Trump as an “enemy” of the United States.

Perhaps it’s unsurprising, then, that Greene’s recent X post isn’t the first time violence has been threatened against Crockett by a Trump follower. Back in January, Republican politician Nancy Mace took a break from her obsession with trans people to tell Crockett that they could “take it outside,” during a heated exchange as part of an Oversight Subcommittee session. That led to Crockett’s office receiving yet another threatening message — one far more disturbing than a cartoon shared on social media.

For what it’s worth, it would probably take a lot more than just two stick figures to ever truly calm down Greene, who has been on a roll lately in the worst possible way. The space laser-wielder has in recent weeks done everything from co-g attacks on Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Oval Office attire, called the climate crisis a “money laundering scam,” and ranted about “poisonous vaccines,” all while finding the time to label Crockett and AOC as the “psychos” without a shred of irony.

While the drama-enthusiast in me wants to see this throwdown Greene proposes actually come to fruition, I have to remind myself that this is politics and not The Real Housewives. Then again, everything Trump has done since returning to the White House has been far more diabolical than anything on that franchise, so perhaps it’s time we give Andy Cohen a call. The Real Housewives of Congress, anyone?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the representative for New York’s 14th congressional district and the woman who has been a relentless champion of minority rights, Medicare, tuition-free public colleges, and a range of other progressive initiatives for the past decade, has once again taken Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to the woodshed and explained why the billionaire-turned-politician is a danger to the country’s democracy.

The idea behind DOGE is not something that would immediately set off alarm bells. Musk markets it as a way to cut down on bureaucracy and regulate federal agencies, which might be long overdue considering the last time a president attempted it goes back to the years of the Cold War. It’s the way that the CEO of X goes about doing it that’s essentially crippling the workflow of different departments, and even causing serious harm in certain instances.

Musk’s team, apparently consisting of young ideologues who haven’t even been properly vetted, has fired thousands of employees, but Trump’s istration often finds itself in the embarrassing position of having to recall them again. Musk recently directed DOGE to send a threatening email to many federal bureaus, only to be immediately shut down by their respective directors. What’s worse, DOGE is already facing resignation issues from its potential workers, who consider the istration’s push to be unconstitutional and against the very freedom the MAGA camp preaches.

Now, in the wake of the FDA rehiring some of the 180 laid-off employees in charge of “approving and monitoring the safety of a range of products, from X-ray machines to surgical implants,” which, according to experts, could seriously derail patient care throughout the country, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has lambasted Musk and called him a “con man with a lot of money.”

“DOGE did not exist two years ago,” she said during a recent House session. “19-year-olds were not raiding the treasury two years ago. People who have no idea with medical background have not been hauling in with kangaroo courts for scientists to dismiss them two years ago. That started happening now.

“Elon Musk is not a scientist. He is not an engineer. He’s a billionaire con man with a lot of money. He does not have this, kind of, good background. And in fact, while there’s some disruption over that, I sincerely ask you all, to examine what expertise he has in approving medical devices, in biomedical engineering devices. These are people’s lives on the line. And we cannot laugh them away. I am asking you to please this amendment for the people who have medical devices stuck in their body.”

Considering the power Elon wields right now (and abuses to a large degree to go after anyone who doesn’t agree with him) AOC’s words speak to her unparalleled courage, if not her unshakable resolve.

And as far as Musk’s expertise is concerned, people are finally beginning to see through the image he’s built for himself. Sure, the man knows how to build rockets, but when it comes to other areas, Musk’s only strategy is to throw his wealth and influence around and bully everyone into doing what he wants.

I guess the only question that remains is this: How long will this political freak show continue until the lawmakers in this country decide to rein Musk in?

There are few superheroes in our modern state-side government quite so adored as New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

She ed the ranks of the United States Congress in 2019, well into Donald Trump’s first presidential term, and has been a vocal opponent of the president’s ever since. A fierce and courageous force in the House of Representatives, Ocasio-Cortez quickly emerged as a rising star in the political arena, and she’s only become more popular in the years since.

Related: ‘What sensitive people’: NYU College Republicans’ President forced to resign for describing Barron Trump’s college experience on The Mary Sue

A progressive with such radical, humanist priorities as healthcare for all, the ability to attend college without wracking up massive debt, and taking guns out of the hands of future mass murderers, Ocasio-Cortez has nearly as many enemies as she does friends. Donald Trump’s “border czar” Tom Homan certainly doesn’t seem to be a fan.

But Ocasio-Cortez’s talents speak for themselves. She’s an adamant, well-spoken, and capable Representative, and that’s earned her four separate election wins in the years since she ed politics. When she first ran, she faced a massive funding disparity, but these days she’s got far more financial backing. Her own bank has grown right alongside her popularity, but unlike far too many of our elected leaders, she’s not making millions off the backs of Americans.

AOC’s net worth

There’s not much I agree with Elon Musk on, but there’s one supposed mission I’m more than behind. He’s going about it in all the wrong ways, but at base, the Department of Government Efficiency’s aim to root out and eliminate excessive government waste is a good one.

Of course, Musk is using the power his new position provides to attack all the wrong agencies, all while misleading the American public. He’s cutting funding from vital agencies and departments like USAID and the Department of Education, and meanwhile many of our national leaders are manipulating the system and enriching themselves on the taxpayer’s dime.

But not AOC. The celebrity of a U.S. politician isn’t tending bar anymore — and it shows in her bank — but she’s also not raking in millions in shady stocks and mysterious payouts. She’s just living within her means, saving well, and putting those Congressional paychecks to good work.

All of which has netted the 35-year-old a worth of around $200,000, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Back when she was first running for office, Ocasio-Cortez was tucking away every penny, but these days she’s got far more to work with. That appears to be largely due to wise money decisions and saving, since the Representative pulls in $174,000 annually, and she’s been in Congress for just over six years. When responding to a falsely claiming that she’s worth millions due to kickbacks, Ocasio-Cortez quickly put the matter to rest.

She explained that she’s actually worth among the least out of everyone in Congress, and that she refuses to earn outside income or trade stock. As she noted, all of her financial disclosures are fully public, and they confirm that she’s worth far less than many of her wealthy peers. She’s even still grappling with student loan debt, providing her with one more way she connects with young Americans. Now if only she can successfully get them forgiven, we’ll all have a bit more cash to toss around.

Among the of the Democratic Party, few can be said to be more active and energetic in trying to mitigate the real human harms brought about by a second Trump presidency than Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Keeping people informed about their constitutional rights and lawful protections is one way to put up a defense against an istration that cares peanuts about the legal principles of due process.

“Know Your Rights in Case of ICE” is AOC’s initiative – which included, among other aspects, a webinar – to assist undocumented migrants in becoming aware of the actions they can take under the law – protected by the Fourth and Fifth Amendments – to shield themselves from forcible deportation.

Naturally, who feels most antagonized by the Democrat’s proactively empathetic show of leadership? The Trump istration. However, someone was particularly – and peculiarly, to put it nicely – vocal about how much he hates the very-much-legal comion AOC displays with her “Know Your Rights in Case of ICE” strategy. None other than the self-entitled Border Czar Tom Homan, Trump’s second-time director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Constitutional facts don’t care about your anti-migrant feelings

Upon learning Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hosted her webinar to inform migrants of their rights, of Donald Trump’s political clique lost their minds, but no one decided to go on a media appearance spree to rant about it quite like Tom Homan.

“She’s the dumbest congresswoman in the history of Congress,” stammered the Border Czar while talking with Newsmax, speaking with all the grace, eloquence, and scrupulousness one has come to expect from Trump and his ring-kissing loyalists. This is a wild statement to utter on national TV, especially considering there’s one Georgia Representative who also goes by her name’s three initials who, well, exists.

But more mind-boggling than his playground insults – something which, at this point, must be water on a duck’s back for Ocasio-Cortez – was his insistence on “where’s that line of impediment.” He himself makes clear he has no idea where the line is drawn, so much so that he professed to be checking in with the DOJ to see whether he could get AOC in legal trouble – he really does hold a grudge dating back to that 2019 House Oversight Committee hearing, doesn’t he?

In response to the sexagenarian’s senseless remarks, the 35-year-old Democrat made a statement, whose poignant articulateness reminds me of Virginia Woolf, not in literary prowess, but in her posture of “unfaltering poise” and unfailingly outspoken adherence to her values when making her voice heard as a woman in a still largely male-dominated career.

In a rare moment of dissidence and judiciousness coming from a staunch Trump ally – at least until they decided to elaborate in a response to his own tweet – legal scholar Jonathan Turley, the same man who thought President Bill Clinton ought to have been impeached whereas Trump digging for dirt on Joe Biden in Ukraine was A-OK, had this to say about Homan’s threats:

“Powerful” sure is a word to describe Vance’s Munich speech. One could also adjectivize an atomic-level fart as “powerful.”

Back to the issue at hand: unlike whatpeople like Homan keep reiterating again and again, being “illegally” in the U.S. does not constitute anything close to a felony. Rather, it’s a civil violation that would never exempt people from being protected by constitutionally-guaranteed due process, such as the right to a fair and impartial hearing. Illegal entry is but a misdemeanor. Only in the event of an unlawful re-entry after deportation would the charge a felony with a punishment of up to two decades in prison.

In Trumpland, the New York City mayor‘s bribery charges can be lifted in an alleged quid pro quo that aims at facilitating ICE raids, while legal prosecution is considered against an elected member of Congress who is informing people that the Fourth and Fifth Amendments are not – for your information, Homan – to be nullified or ignored at one’s pleasure and whim.

It wouldn’t be a new day if Marjorie Taylor Greene wasn’t tweeting yet again, and this time, she’s got some harsh words for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Greene posted a clip on X of Anderson Cooper interviewing AOC on CNN in 2023, and called AOC “a total clown.” Cortez said, “The Biden istration should ignore the court” when Matthew Kacsmaryk, a federal judge in Texas, ruled that the FDA shouldn’t approve mifepristone, a medication used in abortions.

Then, in an interview for NewsMax, Greene said that once each DOGE Committee hearing is done, “there will be a report with an action plan to enact the solutions we develop.” However, Greene made things a lot worse for herself when she itted, “I’m one of those of Congress that gets tired of committee hearings that don’t produce results.” You don’t say!

Seriously, does Greene wake up every day, pour some hot coffee into a mug, and decide who she’s going to insult in the next 24 hours? Then wake up the next day and do it again?

I’m not the first person to ask this (and I certainly won’t be the last), but what exactly does Greene do with her time? You know, besides posting on social media? Let’s reflect on even a few things AOC has done since starting her political career in 2018. She continues to talk about misuses of power, like Elon Musk suddenly acting like the President. But she’s not all talk and no action. During AOC’s first Congressional term, she introduced 23 legislation pieces, and three of her amendments became law, including $10 million for Puerto Rico’s toxic bombardment sites. She came up with the Green New Deal, which would address climate change, decrease pollution, and help people find infrastructure-related jobs that are also union-protected. During her second term, she ensured the Child Tax Credit was part of Biden’s American Rescue Plan. Her Green New Deal also resulted in real change, such as 10 regional deals. (To be as immature as MTG, so there!) Also, since social media is Marjorie’s favorite thing in the world, let’s compare: AOC has 12.8 million followers to Marjorie’s 1.4 million.

Expecting Greene to change is like thinking that reality stars will stop fighting in every episode, but her constant attacks have been the focus of a lot of attention over the past few years. Greene addressed her cruel statements in her 2023 60 Minutes interview. When journalist Lesley Stahl asked the question that is forever on everyone’s minds, “can’t you fight for what you believe in without all that name-calling and without the personal attacks">Greene yelled at AOC’s office door and called her a “baby” who should “get rid of her diaper.” So classy. Although Greene hadn’t been elected to Congress yet (that terrible moment in time happened in 2020), that’s still ridiculous and gross behavior. Maybe she’s just jealous of how much AOC actually gets done?

Sorry, Marjorie, but AOC gets some good digs in, too, and they’re funny, which is more than can be said for anything you’ve said. When news broke that Greene would be the chair of the DOGE Committee, AOC posted on X, “This is good, actually. She barely shows up and doesn’t do the reading.” If the government is so inefficient and DOGE is going to save everyone, maybe having committee hearings and then typing up reports about what to do next is, um, also inefficient?

‘So tired of geriatric politicians’: Nancy Pelosi gets in the way of progress again, skipping over AOC for another political dinosaur https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/politics/so-tired-of-geriatric-politicians-nancy-pelosi-gets-in-the-way-of-progress-again-skipping-over-aoc-for-another-political-dinosaur/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/politics/so-tired-of-geriatric-politicians-nancy-pelosi-gets-in-the-way-of-progress-again-skipping-over-aoc-for-another-political-dinosaur/#respond Wed, 18 Dec 2024 21:14:28 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1812739 How do these geriatrics rationalize holding our future hostage? ]]>

Anyone paying attention to the Democratic Party knows that Nancy Pelosi somehow runs the show.

The 84-year-old may have ed the official baton of power to Hakeem Jefferies in 2023, but she presides over the party like some sort of matriarchal gargoyle. Her penchant for spearheading political committees and conversations has cemented her as a cornerstone of the party — regardless of whether or not most voters still want her in a leadership position.

Democrats are still reeling from Donald Trump’s reelection, but rather than taking a step back to see how the party could have appealed to more voters, it’s doubling down yet again on old-as-dirt politicians. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of the left’s favorite rising stars, has been gunning for the head chair of the House Oversight Committee, but per usual, Pelosi and the establishment refuse to move aside for any kind of progress.

Politics and backstabbing go hand in hand, but this one was pretty low. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, or AOC if you ask her fans, has been a rising star in the Democratic party, reeling in youthful voters by promising a reevaluation of capitalism. As the mega wealthy like Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and Koch brothers throw millions of dollars at their favorite politicians, Democratic socialists like Ocasio-Cortez are looking to keep the billionaires and millionaires out of policymaking while simultaneously raising the working class up.

Apparently her views on policy rattled Pelosi, who looked for anyone other than the healthy 35-year-old to fill the slot. AOC is incredibly popular with young Americans. Roughly the median age for American adults, she was the first person to break 1 million subscribers on the rising social media app BlueSky and has endeavored to marry party lines with views that Bernie Sanders’s 2016 presidential bid proved were deeply popular. But why let someone young, popular with voters, and qualified take a position? Surely Pelosi’s pick must be a beacon of progress, right?

I’m sure Gerry Connolly is a very nice man, but he is not what this country needs right now. He’s been in the House of Representatives since 2009, has a proven track record of book balancing, and has reportedly sided with Joe Biden on every vote since the man was elected president. He’s also 74 and just last month announced that he has esophageal cancer. It’s a horrible disease, and patients have less than a 20% chance of living 5 years past diagnosis. Despite the grim prognosis and advanced age, his colleagues feel he is more than capable of taking on the Trump istration. More importantly, they hope he can flip Virginia blue.

But even his ers seem a little wary of the potential appointment. “Gerry’s a young 74, cancer notwithstanding,” said Don Beyer.

It’s no surprise the decision boiled down to seniority, but when those involved are willing to say the silent part out loud, it’s enraging enough to make you tear your hair out. “I think that the seniority issue in this building gets in the way. Our people back home, they don’t care about seniority,” Becca Balint told Axios. Politico spoke with eight Democratic lawmakers on the Hill and reported that there was “a sense that it was Connolly’s turn” after he served on the for 15 years and ran two failed campaigns for the position.

According to much of the Right, Democrats keep getting spanked by Trump because he’s a political outsider. Yet the party doubles down on their good ‘ol boy’s club at every turn, and it seems like every time it does, Pelosi is right there — even if it means working from her hospital. The octogenarian recently fell and broke a hip, and while we have to commend her for grimacing through a photo op after the fall, knowing that she coordinated Connolly’s win from a German hospital bed is depressing.

There is no denying that Pelosi has been a boon to the Democratic process throughout her career. She stood up for AIDS patients when it was career suicide to do so. She worked hard to advance civil rights for the Black community and urged diplomacy before military action after September 11th. There was once a time that perhaps Pelosi did have her finger on the pulse of America, but those years are far behind her.

Americans want change, and at 84 years old, it’s not change Pelosi can provide. Just like Connolly, she needs to retire and spend what time she has left with her friends and family. None of us are promised tomorrow, and with a prognosis like that, Connolly can hardly promise a year. Perhaps that’s the point. Connolly gets to fill the role he “deserves,” and when he hopefully retires after a year, someone like AOC can fill the role. Unfortunately for the rest of us, as long as Democrats operate like this, Trump and his allies will run circles around them every time.

‘Very prestigious post you have there’: AOC congratulates Marjorie Taylor Greene as she finally s self-destructive MAGA government https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/politics/setting-itself-up-for-failure-aoc-has-the-perfect-response-to-marjorie-taylor-greene-ing-the-doge-subcommittee/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/politics/setting-itself-up-for-failure-aoc-has-the-perfect-response-to-marjorie-taylor-greene-ing-the-doge-subcommittee/#respond Sat, 23 Nov 2024 14:11:58 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1798753 She had one final parting shot for the dynamic duo of Greene and Musk.]]>

The Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber of government oversight — or as the cool kids call it, DOGE — has now become the Three Stooges of Stupidity, but Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) is not about to let this slide without a perfectly crafted clapback.

DOGE, the half-baked brainchild of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, is essentially a glorified think tank with delusions of grandeur. They have no legal authority and no actual plan beyond making outrageous demands, like Musk’s asinine suggestion to slash federal spending by a cool $2 trillion. And even worse, Republicans have tapped none other than Marjorie Taylor Greene to head up this non-government entity.

You know, the same woman who’s spent her paltry three years in office prancing around the nation like a MAGA tooth fairy, sprinkling extremist pixie dust and grabbing headlines with her unhinged antics. With her megaphone loud enough to wake the dead, MTG is now free to crank her crazy up to eleventy-billion. On the other side of the aisle, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) has been quick to skewer this latest appointment. “This is good, actually,” she quipped. “She barely shows up and doesn’t do the reading. To borrow a phrase I saw elsewhere, it’s like giving someone an unplugged controller.”

Not satisfied with merely drawing blood, she twisted the knife even further.

Let’s not forget about Greene’s impeccable qualifications for this role. Over her illustrious career, Greene has introduced a whopping 265 bills, 85 resolutions, 33 amendments, 24 t resolutions, and six concurrent resolutions. And what has she accomplished with this effort?

Wait for it…

she’s managed to change the names of a few post offices and Veteran Affairs buildings. Slow claps, everyone.

Earlier, Greene took to X to tout her business credentials from her days heading a construction company, proclaiming, “if you’re not doing a good job, you get fired.”

By her own logic, Marjorie should have been unceremoniously booted from her taxpayer-funded perch eons ago, considering that when she’s not occupied with the Herculean task of renaming post offices, she’s tirelessly dedicated to spreading her brand of lunacy far and wide, from extolling the miraculous benefits of guzzling raw milk to insisting that Democrats have a secret machine capable of controlling the weather on a whim, or even peddling the earth-shattering revelation that nefarious Jewish space lasers are responsible for setting California ablaze.

As expected, AOC wasn’t the only one coming up with excellent insults.

As we stare into the abyss, let us take solace in the knowledge that there are still voices of reason, like AOC, who will continue to call out the insanity and fight for a government that actually serves the people rather than serving up a steaming pile of nonsense on a daily basis.
