July has been a pretty good month for superhero PR, and it’s been a pretty gory month overall. Just one week after The Boys blessed us with a bloody nightmare of a finale, Deadpool & Wolverine kept the momentum going. Come to think of it, both Wade and Logan would be terrifyingly awesome of the Prime Video hit, and Deadpool 3 shows that Disney needs to let the family-friendly formula go!

After watching Deadpool & Wolverine, there’s something that makes this the MCU’s potential saving grace. When it was announced that the movie would be Rated R, I knew I had to catch it on opening day. After all, with all of his brash, knuckle-slicing, throat-cutting arrogance, Wolverine wasn’t blurting out curse words until 2017’s Logan, and I needed to see him in his element again. And that, to me, has always been why the mutants had never truly lived up to their potential.

Who knew it would take Disney to finally give superheroes some balls of steel? With all the universe-threatening villains and earth-shattering heroes that have graced the MCU in the past decade, we’re just now witnessing history">it’s about time we move forward, and leave the past few MCU phases behind. The people want bloodthirsty action, and hopefully, some more R-Rated superhero movies are on the horizon.

‘The Boys’: Homelander’s milk obsession, explained https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/tv/the-boys-homelanders-milk-obsession-explained/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/tv/the-boys-homelanders-milk-obsession-explained/#respond Mon, 08 Jul 2024 11:07:47 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1719783 The psychology behind Homelander's bizarre milk addiction. ]]>

Warning: Spoilers to follow.

In the harsh, superhero-saturated world of The Boys, one peculiar quirk stands out among the chaos and carnage: Homelander’s unquenchable thirst for milk. Random, I know. The most powerful character in the series has a bizarre fixation on bovine secretions that makes me think that this is some sort of psy-op by the dairy industry. But what exactly is the deal with his oddly specific obsession?

First things first, let’s acknowledge the elephant in the room. At least he isn’t addicted to meth, right? In a show where everyone abuses their powers left and right, Homelander’s penchant for the white stuff seems almost quaint by comparison. But don’t let that fool you – this milk obsession runs deeper than you might think.

The origins of Homelander’s milk kink can be traced back to his interactions with Madelyn Stillwell. In early episodes, we see Homelander eyeing Madelyn’s breast milk with a mixture of longing and jealousy. This sets the stage for what becomes a recurring theme throughout the series.

What’s with Homelander and his weird milk worship?

Antony Starr, the actor behind Homelander, spilled the beans in a Rolling Stone interview about how this came to be. According to Starr, it all started with a scene where Homelander uses his X-ray vision to dabble in a bit of voyeurism and creepily watch Madelyn breastfeeding. The writing team ran with this idea, and before long, it snowballed into a full-blown character trait.

In fact, Starr was so amused by the weirdness of it all that he sent an email to showrunner Eric Kripke, suggesting they incorporate more milk-related scenes. Kripke, ever the visionary, was already one step ahead. From that point on, milk became Homelander’s signature thing, popping up in unexpected places and adding a twisted layer to his already complex character.

The truth behind Homelander’s milk obsession is rooted in something far more profound than a simple dietary preference. It’s all about his deep-seated psychological issues stemming from a loveless childhood. In Season 4’s Wisdom of the Ages episode, we get a glimpse into Homelander’s past at Vought Laboratories. It turns out that as a child, he was essentially a lab rat, subjected to endless tests and experiments. But the real kicker? Vought hired top psychologists to intentionally instill in Homelander a desperate need for love and affection.

Photo via Instagram/@theboystv

The logic behind this was simple. Since they couldn’t physically control him, they figured they could at least make him emotionally dependent. But as with most diabolical plans, this one had some unintended consequences. Jump forward to adult Homelander and we’ve got a superpowered man-child with an insatiable craving for love. And how does this manifest? You guessed it. Through his obsession with milk. It’s not just about the drink itself; it’s about what it represents.

Just think about it for a second. A baby’s first experience of love and comfort often comes from being fed, whether it’s through nursing or a bottle. Homelander, who never got to experience that nurturing love as a child, is subconsciously trying to fill that void. It’s why we see him not just drinking milk, but storing it in baby bottles and even engaging in disturbing nursing scenarios with adult women.

Photo via Instagram/@theboystv

One particularly eyebrow-raising scene involves a new supe named Firecracker, who goes to extreme lengths to produce breast milk as a “gift” for Homelander. The resulting interaction is simultaneously touching, weird, and deeply unsettling, a perfect encapsulation of Homelander’s character.

This milk obsession also ties into Homelander’s complicated relationship with his son, Ryan. Starr points out that Homelander genuinely loves Ryan but has no idea how to be a good father. After all, how could he? He’s never experienced that type of love for himself. It’s a classic case of the abused becoming the ab, albeit in a uniquely twisted, milk-soaked way.

As the series progresses, Homelander’s milk fetish becomes more than just a strange, but slighly endearing, quality. It’s a visual shorthand for his emotional state, a way for the show to telegraph his vulnerability without having to spell it out. A simple shot of Homelander sipping milk can now convey a wealth of meaning to viewers in the know.

In the grand scheme of The Boys, Homelander’s milk obsession is just one of many outrageous elements that make the show so captivating. It’s a perfect example of how the series takes familiar superhero tropes and turns them on their head, creating something engaging for the viewer and somehow relatable.

The next time you see Homelander reaching for a glass of milk that it’s not just about calcium intake. It’s a complex cocktail of childhood trauma, psychological manipulation, and a desperate need for love, all wrapped up in a deceptively simple package. Who knew that something as innocuous as milk could become such a powerful storytelling device?

In the end, Homelander’s milk obsession is a testament to the creative genius behind The Boys. It’s these kinds of unexpected, slightly off-kilter details that elevate the show from just another superhero series to a biting commentary on power, celebrity, and the human condition. And if it happens to boost milk sales in the process? Well, that’s just the cherry on top of this very weird sundae.

‘The Boys’: The Ronaldo/Homelander meme, explained https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/social-media/the-boys-the-ronaldo-homelander-meme-explained/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/social-media/the-boys-the-ronaldo-homelander-meme-explained/#respond Fri, 05 Jul 2024 17:59:52 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1719379 Seven isn't a lucky number for Ronaldo and Homelander, after all. ]]>

The pop culture and sports space quantum often find themselves intertwined. This isn’t entirely surprising, considering how overpaid both actors and athletes are, but that’s a conversation for another time. For now, two names that have emerged at the very center of this multiverse of madness are Cristiano Ronaldo and Homelander.

For those out of the loop, two major athletic events are currently happening: Copa America, and the EURO Cup. For North Americans who aren’t particularly fond of football (or soccer), these events are equivalent to the Super Bowl for the rest of the world (though the U.S.A. is included, they generally don’t care as much). Simultaneously, a major entertainment event is happening: the new season of The Boys is airing, and many people have since noticed similarities between its main antagonist, Homelander, and Portugal’s star, Cristiano Ronaldo.

What is the Ronaldo and Homelander meme?

Essentially, the meme highlights the personality similarities between Ronaldo and Homelander, as well as their respective falls from grace. For those unfamiliar with these names, Cristiano Ronaldo was once considered the best soccer player in the world, winning the Ballon d’Or five times throughout his career. Homelander, on the other hand, is the main villain of The Boys, known as the strongest superhero in the universe, and most of all, for being television’s most arrogant idiot.

Aside from being considered the best in their respective fields, they both suffer from a pretty big flaw: pride. For those not watching the EURO Cup, it’s important to note that Ronaldo has not been at the height of his career. The Portuguese footballer, who once reveled in being one of the best athletes in the world, has faced criticism for missing most of his shots during this tournament, and even a penalty. Similarly, Homelander’s insecurities have become more apparent, and more often than not, he’s more of a nuisance than a help. Sound familiar?

The memes surfaced after Ronaldo’s performance in the Portugal vs. Slovenia game on July 1. After missing multiple free kicks and even a penalty, the player couldn’t hold back his tears, adding more fuel to this comparison fire. Media reports suggest he made the game all about himself, not allowing other Portuguese players to shine, nor did he allow any other players to free kick. So much for being a captain.

Enter Homelander, the narcissistic dictator from The Boys, feared by his team — the seven! — who is constantly refusing to let anyone else take the lead. Once again, sound familiar?

All in all, this is a hilarious and very recent meme format, and not even Portugal’s ers are mad about it. The two of them have more in common than ever before, and perhaps it’s time for them both to let someone else take the reins for once.

‘He acts just like Homelander’: Antony Starr allegations blur fact and fiction as he’s accused of abusive behavior on set of ‘The Boys’ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/news/he-acts-just-like-homelander-antony-starr-allegations-blur-fact-and-fiction-as-hes-accused-of-abusive-behavior-on-set-of-the-boys/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/news/he-acts-just-like-homelander-antony-starr-allegations-blur-fact-and-fiction-as-hes-accused-of-abusive-behavior-on-set-of-the-boys/#respond Thu, 04 Jul 2024 23:19:15 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1719131 A shocking expose or a fan with a serious chip on its shoulder?]]>

For a while people have been joking that The Boys actor Antony Starr’s personality is an act and that he’s secretly Homelander in real life. However, new allegations have been made that mean this might not be far from the truth.

The rumors originated from VoughtHQ an Instagram dedicated to posting The Boys spoilers. The original is now gone and on a backup the person behind VoughtHQ explained that they no longer wanted to the show’s creators given the recent developments among other things.

What is Antony Starr being accused of?

Regardless, there are still screenshots of the initial Instagram stories floating around that have been shared by others. According to the owner, a former unnamed actor on the show told them that Starr bullied actress Dominique McElligott (Queen Maeve) “relentlessly” as well as behaving inappropriately around female staff. They also cited another source who supposedly worked in the costume department who also made the same bullying comments, apparently he bullied her so hard “she left the industry.”

They also made a comment about Starr beating people up “on more than one occasion.” This likely refers to an incident in which the actor was arrested for assault while in Spain after getting drunk and attacking a man. According to an article from Deadline – Starr got into a bar fight which ended with him hitting 21-year-old Bathuel Araujo with a glass. Although there haven’t been any other reported incidents involving the actor that we know of.

The response

If the allegations are true this would make it yet another case of a well known figure receiving protection from the crew and the cast working with them. As you can imagine people online have pretty strong opinions on both sides, with some believing the rumors and others accusing the leaker of lying.

https://twitter.com/laha_jeet/status/1808735125955563559

Obviously it’s important to take all of this information with a hefty pinch of salt. After all, we have no way of ing VoughtHQ’s sources. A screenshot shared by @sopranos1907 shows a year old post to Reddit by the VoughtHQ making the same claim regarding bullying, so at the very least, we can say they’ve been saying this for a while now.

Right now this news is still pretty fresh, we’ll have to wait and see how everything plays out. There isn’t a whole lot of discussion on the topic right now so it’s possible it may never be addressed, but hopefully someone from The Boys cast, or even McElligot herself can some forward and either confirm or deny the allegations.

Season 4 of The Boys has landed on Amazon Prime Video, and it’s already shaping up to be a banger. If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t tuned in yet, now’s the time to catch the chaos.

The Boys, helmed by the ever-ingenious Eric Kripke and based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, has been a wild ride since its debut back in 2019. Unlike the traditional caped crusaders who stand for truth and justice, the Supes in this universe are often the embodiment of power run amok — morally corrupt, shockingly violent, and driven by ego.

As we have seen, Vought International, the conglomerate behind the Supes, is covering up scandals while profiting from the chaos. The Supes, led by the terrifyingly powerful Homelander, have become untouchable icons with a license to do whatever they want, to whomever they want. In the finale of the last season, Homelander finally crossed the line when he brutally murdered a protester who dared to criticize him. Season 4 now sees the repercussions he faces.

All Episodes of The Boys: Complete Schedule

Season 4 of The Boys is structured into a tight eight-episode arc, with the first three episodes having already dropped on Amazon Prime Video. This season, Homelander is more unhinged than ever, and that’s saying something. The first few episodes already put him through the wringer with a murder trial, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Homelander’s got a taste for blood, and he’s not going to stop until he’s the undisputed king of the supes.

‘Hall of fame level marketing’: First major peek at ‘The Boys’ season 4 smashes real world borders of coincidence and fate https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/tv/hall-of-fame-level-marketing-first-major-peek-at-the-boys-season-4-smashes-real-world-borders-of-coincidence-and-fate/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/tv/hall-of-fame-level-marketing-first-major-peek-at-the-boys-season-4-smashes-real-world-borders-of-coincidence-and-fate/#respond Sun, 02 Jun 2024 14:48:58 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1703244 The timing? Impeccable.]]>

In the world of marketing, timing is everything. And when it comes to riding the wave of current events, the creators behind The Boys are surfing like champions.

The Boys, for the uninitiated, is Amazon Prime Video‘s darkly comedic, brutally honest take on the superhero genre. Unlike its more family-friendly counterparts, this series dives deep into the murkier waters of power and how absolutely it can corrupt. Superheroes (or “Supes,” as they’re not-so-affectionately called) are not the saviors here; they’re the product — and often the perpetrators — of corporate greed and political manipulation. It’s satire with a capital S, and viewers eat it up because it feels unsettlingly close to reality.

At the end of Season 3 of The Boys, Homelander kills a protester publicly and without remorse. This act is broadcast live, showing him basking in the cheers of his ers immediately after the “fifth avenue” moment (whoops, did I say that out loud? Never mind). As we gear up for season 4, The Boys creators are clearly leaving no stone unturned—or unthrown, considering their latest jab at none other than former U.S. President Donald Trump. Following Trump’s real-life felony convictions, the show’s Vought International Twitter dropped a cheeky post showing Homelander in court.

Trump’s hush money scandal stems from payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign to silence allegations of extramarital affairs that could have potentially damaged his election prospects. The drama surrounding his trial — where he was found guilty on all 34 counts — has been nothing short of cinematic.

Something The Boys would nod to in its impressively own twisted way.

The central figure in this scandal, aside from Trump himself, is Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal lawyer and fixer. Cohen itted to arranging payments totaling $280,000 to two women— adult film actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal — who alleged they had affairs with Trump years before his political career. Cohen used his own funds for the payment to Daniels and coordinated a payment through the parent company of the National Enquirer tabloid to suppress McDougal’s story, a technique known as “catch and kill.”

Fast forward to 2024, after a lengthy legal battle and investigation, Trump was found guilty in New York. Legally, he faces potential prison time, which is unprecedented for a former U.S. president. Politically, the conviction arrived at a critical juncture, mere months before the 2024 presidential elections.

Homelander, in this case, is a clear mascot for the old warning: Even a taste of power can inflate you into a narcissistic, man-child tyrant. This season of The Boys promises to push boundaries even further, with Homelander unchained and more terrifying than ever. His no-holds-barred approach to reshaping The Seven suggests a dark turn towards outright fascism. It’s bold and it’s uncomfortably close to the bone.

This is not the first time The Boys’ creators have seized a perfect moment for a clever promotion. Back in February, when Donald Trump, in a desperate attempt to raise funds for his mounting legal troubles, introduced a line of overpriced sneakers ($399!), the official Twitter of Vought International created its own satirical response. The fictional corporation d “Homelander High-Tops” for $777, claiming all profits would go towards funding Homelander’s “sham of a trial.”

Following their February stunt, the creators took another timely swing in March with a promotional poster for Season 4. The poster carried the slogan “Make America Super Again” – sound familiar? It should. Accompanying this image was the caption “Wanker-in-chief,” which is a clear dig at the bad spray tan former President. The poster also hinted at the season’s plot which will explore the results of the presidential election in the show.

As showrunner Eric Kripke has made abundantly clear, the parallels between Homelander and a certain former president are anything but coincidental.

“Homelander has always been a Trump analogy for me. It’s white-male victimization and unchecked ambition. And those issues just happened to reflect the guy who, it’s just still surreal to say it, was f-cking President of the United States. And it’s a bigger issue than just Trump. The more awful public figures act, the more fans they seem to be getting. That’s a phenomenon that we wanted to explore, that Homelander is realizing that he can actually show them who he really is and they’ll love him for it.”

Eric Kripke (via Rolling Stone)

At the same time, The Boys is not a one-dimensional political screed. As Homelander actor Antony Starr had pointed out, the show’s creators are careful not to make the parallels too direct, lest the character become a mere caricature.

The Boys are returning to Prime Video with Season 4 on June 13, 2024.

Does Homelander have a mental illness in ‘The Boys’? https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/tv/does-homelander-have-a-mental-illness-in-the-boys/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/tv/does-homelander-have-a-mental-illness-in-the-boys/#respond Thu, 09 May 2024 16:26:45 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1692820 Does the standout antagonist of Prime Video’s ‘The Boys’ actually suffer from mental illness?]]>

We’re a little bit over a month away from the Season 4 premiere of The Boys, available exclusively on Prime Video. For five years now, the show has given us hilarious writing that satirizes the kind of society we are all facing right now in the world. The only thing different is that there’s superheroes in The Boys. Besides that, it’s a big mirror up to the age of cancel culture, the internet, and billion-dollar corporations that make the decisions that affect all of us.

At the center of all of that is the character Homelander. An argument can be made that in the era of Trump, far right wing fantics, toxic masculinity, and trying to figure out what this version of America really is, actor Anthony Starr has given us a performance as a character that gives us what would happen to a Superman-esque character if he were real and around in 2024.

Homelander is the leader of The Seven. The team of superheroes, who live a very public life and are presented to the people of the world like celebrities rather than every-day heroes with special gifts, presents Homelander as the hero we all need, but right behind that facade is a deeply troubled being that yearns for iration while also having spates of self-loathing. He’s a narcissist with a personality disorder that should have labeled him unfit for the position in the world that he is in.

In tales of caped crusaders who save the day, even during hardship, heroes still have a moral code to follow that brings things back to center for them. Homelander lacks that due to his lack of human empathy and moral reservation.

As with every season of The Boys, there seems to be a deeper dive into the psyche of Homelander. There are beats throughout every season that show what an awful person he is willing to become. As the show has progressed, Homelander has become an internet meme, which, if anything, signifies that we oddly identify with some of his emotional states. Let’s just hope we don’t let those intrusive thoughts win.

The scene of him sitting in a theater surrounded by many while the faint sound of white noise echoes throughout it, signifying what’s on his mind and that Homelander is an emotionless sociopath, has been re-used all over Instagram reels over the last few years. Another one is the somewhat relieved Homelander laughing scene where he shoots lasers out of his eyes to level a protestor and still keeps the crowd on his side.

To go a step further, The Boys creator Erick Kripke has gone on record as saying Homelander has dissociative identity disorder, formerly known as multiple personality disorder. “He hates that he has feelings, and he hates that he is a human being,” Kripke stated. “If he embraced that part of him more, he might be a happier person who isn’t going to destroy the planet.”

The Boys is a show that has picked up steam with every season, outdoing the one prior. By season 3, it has become clear where the direction of Homelander may go; it is time for a complete mental breakdown. The kind of life the character has, with all the problems that go along with it, is eventually going to crash and burn. The buildup of the mixed bag of emotions he carries, while also finding the opportunity to be an emotionless killing machine, is eventually going to reach its tipping point. We’ll see on June 13th, 2024 if season 4 is that season where we bear witness to it.

Does Homelander die in ‘The Boys’ comic? https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/comicbooks/does-homelander-die-in-the-boys-comic/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/comicbooks/does-homelander-die-in-the-boys-comic/#respond Wed, 08 May 2024 15:06:41 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1692326 With great power comes great... nevermind.]]>

The thesis of Amazon Prime’s The Boys is simple. With great power comes great corruption.

Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) learns this early when there are no repercussions for his girlfriend’s death, who was killed when a high A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) runs right through her. But while A-Train is capable of change and comes to understand the consequences of his role in her death, other characters are not the introspective types. That is how The Boys has given fans one of the greatest villains of all time.

Homelander (Antony Starr) – a clear allegory for Superman – is the epitome of corruption. A truly maniacal villain, the Boys aim to find a way to destroy him. But therein lies the problem. Homelander is essentially unkillable. Where Superman is a beacon of hope, Homelander is the opposite. His reign of terror knows no bounds, and there is no boundary he won’t cross. So how can these human beings expect to kill him?

That is the question up for the court. Homelander is so powerful it’s a wonder that he hasn’t massacred the whole lot trying to do him in from the beginning. But while it seems impractical that Homelander hasn’t decided to rid the world of everyone who hates him, there may be an answer to how to defeat him in the comics.

Homelander’s fate in The Boys comic

Image via Dynamite Entertainment

Seth Rogen, the executive producer of the superhero show, has long been a fan of Garth Ennis comics. He had his hand in developing the Preacher adaptation for FX, which spanned 4 seasons. And while he is known to deviate from the source material slightly, a grain of truth always remains. The secret to Homelander’s demise could lie in the pages of Ennis’ book.

As in the series, the comic portrays Homelander as basically invincible. But that doesn’t mean that Vought was without a backup plan. Understanding that Homelander was dangerous and may need to be curbed, they made a clone whose primary purpose was to destroy him if he became a problem. This clone was actually someone familiar to the Boys: Black Noir. Obscuring his identity by wearing a mask and never speaking, Black Noir is a failsafe and ultimately carries out his duty. With powers comparable to Homelander, the two come to blows, with Black Noir finally fulfilling his purpose. But because they two were so evenly matched, he also maintains heavy damage. This event allows Butcher the opportunity to kill him while he’s down.

The Amazon Prime adaptation will be unable to follow this trajectory. It was already revealed that Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) was just another part of The Seven who was brain-damaged during the days of Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and dies at the end of season 3. However, there is still room to honor this storyline. Black Noir appears in The Boys season 4, which could mean the clone version of Homelander exists.

And then there is Ryan (Cameron Crovetti). After assaulting Butcher’s wife Becca (Shantel VanSanten), Homelander fathered her son, who has the same powers as his father. If there is someone strong enough to destroy the supervillain, it’s Ryan, who has already utilized his heat vision to devastating effect. As The Boys is a Rogen production, there is no telling where the series will go in the future. The only thing for certain is that Homelander needs to be killed at some point.

Fighting game fans have enjoyed more than three decades of spine-rippin’, head explodin’, harpoon impalin’ gaming fun with Mortal Kombat‘s gallery of ninjas, special forces soldiers, and very toothy creatures from another dimension. But, even after so many games, Mortal Kombat 1 may be the best entry yet.

The game landed in mid-September and we’re now beginning to see guest fighters arrive via ‘Kombat Pack 1’. The first to enter Kombat was Invincible’s Omni-Man, with his TV show voice actor J.K. Simmons along for the ride. Omni-Man will soon be ed by Peacemaker and Homelander, with John Cena voicing his The Suicide Squad character.

Sadly, Antony Starr has confirmed he will not be voicing Homelander. The Boys star answered the question on his Instagram, saying, simply, “nope“. A little digging also turned up a six-month-old Reddit post in which a fan asked Starr if he had the gig at convention, to which he replied that he wasn’t offered enough to voice act. So if Starr’s out, who’s in?

Right now there’s no official announcement though we can make an educated guess. It’s notable that both Simmons and Cena are already included in the Mortal Kombat 1 credits for their DLC work. So, are there any voice actors listed in the credits who don’t already voice a character?

There are three: Chris Cox, Stephen Oyoung, and Stephanie Sheh. Of those, Cox is by far the most likely candidate. He’s already been a soundalike for Arnie by voicing The Terminator in Mortal Kombat 11 and from what we’ve heard has the right voice to do an Antony Starr impression.

Some fans have come to the same conclusion:

A list of Homelander’s dialogue has also been data-mined from the game, confirming he’ll be reciting many of his most famous The Boys lines:

We’re a little put out that NetherRealm Studios appear to have lowballed Starr and, after he declined, didn’t try to make him a better offer. Perhaps the bad press about this story may cause them to return to the negotiating table (and the SAG-AFTRA strikes being over means Starr can do it). But even if that doesn’t happen, Chris Cox is a veteran voice actor and should knock this out of the park.

So when can we expect to play as Homelander? Sadly there’s no official date for him ing Kombat, though NetherRealm Studios has said it won’t be later than spring 2024.

Is Soldier Boy stronger than Homelander in ‘The Boys?’ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/tv/is-soldier-boy-stronger-than-homelander-in-the-boys/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/tv/is-soldier-boy-stronger-than-homelander-in-the-boys/#respond Fri, 08 Sep 2023 23:06:37 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1583462 Could America's original hero dethrone Homelander as the world's strongest supe?]]>

Simply put, Soldier Boy is not stronger than Homelander in The Boys, at least not in a straight head-to-head clash, or in of brute strength.

Jensen Ackles brilliantly brought Soldier Boy to life in the critically-acclaimed Amazon Prime Video series. The character, a twisted parody of Captain America and the Winter Soldier, is considered the original superhero in the show’s mythos. Being one of the first recipients of Compound V, the chemical which gives supes their abilities in the series, Soldier Boy became incredibly strong and super durable, essentially, y’know, a super soldier.

However, The Boys season 3 displayed that Soldier Boy is not quite as strong as Homelander. When he’s first being discussed by Billy Butcher and Maeve, even the former calls him “almost” as strong as Vought’s flagship jackass.

While Soldier Boy was able to withstand attacks from Homelander, it’s been shown that the Star-Spangled nightmare is still in a league of his own when it comes to brute strength. After all, in their first fight, Soldier Boy was about to be choked out until Butcher intervened. It subsequently took both of them and a super-charged Hughie to hold Homelander down. (In that scene, Antony Starr’s menacing growl was simply legendary.)

Soldier Boy also doesn’t have Homelander’s ability to fly. So, in of simply being “stronger,” this puts the old-timer at a serious disadvantage. However, none of this means that Soldier Boy still can’t win in a fight with Vought’s biggest man-child. In fact, the argument can be made that Soldier Boy is still a far superior fighter, despite not being as strong.

How is Homelander stronger than Soldier Boy?

All in all, the show did a terrific job in portraying just how much of a threat Soldier Boy was to Homelander without completely putting one over the other. This just raises the stakes for Butcher and the boys come next season; they might have lost the one person who could truly bring down Homelander. One advantage that Soldier Boy clearly had in The Boys, however, was his superior tactical mind.

Soldier Boy’s powers are far more limited than Homelander’s. The latter can fly, shoot laser beams out of his eyes; while Soldier Boy is an awful reflection of Captain America, Homelander is a homegrown Superman without Ma and Pa Kent. (It’s also kind of funny to that Soldier Boy needed a plane to get back to America when his “son” can just pop in the sky whenever he wants.)

After his imprisonment in Russia and going through countless forced experimentations, Soldier Boy gained the ability of generating terrifying energy blasts. These attacks were already dangerous due to their sheer force. Just look at what happened in New York when Soldier Boy blacked out. However, they can also strip a supe of their powers completely. That makes Soldier Boy ten times more dangerous.

On a more pragmatic level, Soldier Boy is a much better tactician than Homelander. This was seen in their famous “Herogasm” battle. Homelander swung wildly at his dear, dear father. Meanwhile, Soldier Boy was aiming for well-placed body shots. The original hero also made Homelander pay for wearing a cape. Can’t believe Vought hasn’t heeded Edna Mode’s advice: “No capes!”

Overall, The Boys portrayed Soldier Boy as the better fighter. In a prolonged one-on-one encounter, he could have a serious chance against Homelander, especially if the opportunity arises to use his energy blasts.

However, it’s difficult to imagine Homelander just waiting for Soldier Boy to power up. It’s important to note each time the latter tried to use his energy abilities against Homelander he had help. Also, let’s not forget that Soldier Boy seems to have his own kryptonite. Novichok has tuckered him out several times. If Homelander knows about this, and has the critical thinking — which is a big ask — to employ this weakness, then he could simply fly superfast and blitz his old man with the gas like Payback did, albeit with far greater ease and success.

‘Mortal Kombat 1’ full roster leak, explained https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/gaming/mortal-kombat-1-full-roster-leak-explained/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/gaming/mortal-kombat-1-full-roster-leak-explained/#respond Thu, 07 Sep 2023 17:08:47 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1582346 The original post even got a Kopyright claim.]]>

The forthcoming Mortal Kombat 1 has just had what is purported to be its entire roster of characters leaked. However, where did this claim come from, and is it legitimate?

Though the fighting game which isn’t set for release until more than a week from now has already confirmed a few characters — such as Megan Fox portraying Nitara and even the super antiheroes Homelander, Peacemaker, and Omni-Man — the complete line up has remained a mystery until very recently.

What is the full roster and where did the leak come from?

The Reddit rearisen is the original leaker who posted the full Mortal Kombat 1 roster on the subreddits r/MortalKombat and r/MortalKombatLeaks, according to Video Game Chronicle. That includes the entire list of Kameos.

This all apparently occurred because the Reddit got the Nintendo Switch version of the game leaked to his device two weeks early. Adding to the authenticity of the leak is the fact that the posts have been taken down due to copyright infringement, which is believed to be something companies generally do when a piece of information is the real deal.

Footage from the Switch release of Mortal Kombat 1 was even released by the gamer, though he warned that it had poor performance issues, such as screen tearing and lag. With that said, there’s no guarantee the individual’s leaked copy will actually reflect the quality of the finished product since the NetherRealm Studios could roll out more updates yet.

Though the initial Reddit posts were taken down, the leaked list has still been made public (via GameRant) and you can view it below:

‘How did this get a successful live action show!?’: Readers of ‘The Boys’ comic remain baffled at its live-action adaptation https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/news/how-did-this-get-a-successful-live-action-show-readers-of-the-boys-comic-remain-baffled-at-its-live-action-adaptation/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/news/how-did-this-get-a-successful-live-action-show-readers-of-the-boys-comic-remain-baffled-at-its-live-action-adaptation/#respond Wed, 19 Jul 2023 17:22:36 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1539531 The show sures the source material in most ways.]]>

Warning: The following article contains spoilers for The Boys comic books.

The Boys might just be one of the best comic book adaptations out there, but the source material is deeply flawed and at times an outright mess, and fans are calling it out.

A post shared on Reddit has started a discussion surrounding The Boys comic book origins. The post in question was a screenshot of a tweet that pointed out a few glaring holes in the story and themes of the original material. The caption reads “How did this get a successful live action show!?” But is the original comic really that bad?

Listen, I love Garth Ennis as much as the next guy, but The Boys is definitely one of his weaker comic runs. Often falling back upon the same old hyper-violence and sex that Ennis is notorious for time and time again. The message of the books gets drowned underneath the author’s need to show the reader the most messed up stuff he could think of.

As the tweet shared online suggests, there were indeed supervillains in the original story, which kind of defeats the point of the “superheroes” being the real villains. The ending also completely deflates the stakes to the point of being laughable. Don’t even get me started on that twist with Black Noir. Hopefully season 3’s finale removed any possibility of that coming to , but if you know what I’m talking about you’ll know how poorly executed the reveal was in the comics.

You also had The Boys using temp V from the get go rather than it being something that actually has dire consequences for whoever uses it. This also removes the stakes somewhat as our main characters are put on the same playing field as the villains, it doesn’t feel like such an impossible struggle when it’s just supes vs supes. There’s less of that moral dilemma from the show. In fact most of the stuff from the comic just misses the mark.

Fans had plenty of their own gripes with the source material too with many claiming the Prime Video show to be one of the few adaptations to sur the source material.

“The Boys Amazon series is one of the few cases where the adaptation exceeds its source material

Someone called the comics a revenge fantasy against people who don’t exist”

And yes, the comics do feel like a strange revenge fantasy against something that Ennis has made up in his head.

“It was more of a revenge fantasy against a genre that does exist.

Ennis hates superhero comics. He thinks that they over-dominate the comic landscape.

He’s kind of an odd duck.”

“That’s the comic, the show is actually fire, and is a lot more logically and thematically sound”

To be fair, Garth Ennis is credited as a co-executive producer (along with Seth Rogen) on the series, so perhaps he’s decided to reel in his rage a bit as the show is pretty solid.

As for how the show got made, the truth is that Ennis is actually a solid writer. There had already been successful adaptations of his work before including Preacher, arguably one of the best comics ever made. Similar to The Boys, the Preacher comics and it’s adaptation reveled in the hyper-violence.

Ennis has proven that he can write good comics and shows this just isn’t the best reflection of his work. There are clearly a lot of problems with the source material, but lucky for us someone saw a diamond in the rough and decided to polish that diamond until it shined.
