It’s a great day to be a Supernatural fan, as we’re about to see the Winchesters reunite on the small screen once again. That’s right, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins are set to Jensen Ackles for the fifth and final season of Prime Video’s The Boys. Can you say yummm? (Literally, someone me some baja chipotle and an olive.)

I mean sure, it’s not a Supernatural reboot, but this is definitely the next best thing, and it’s safe to say fans of the show are stoked at the thought of seeing the fictional brothers and their guardian angel back on our screens in any capacity. The announcement came via The Boys TikTok where Soldier Boy actor, Jensen Ackles recorded a message to his former co-star, Jared Padalecki, telling him, “We’ve got work to do.” Padalecki then es the message on to Misha Collins who asks, “What are we doing?”

I feel like that clip awakened a part of me that hasn’t felt that way since 2013. The hype is real. Last year we saw Ackles and Collins reunite to show their for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 U.S. election. The duo were also photographed with the cast of The Boys around the same time, which certainly got people talking. But seeing Padalecki enter the fold for real is just something else.

Fans are buzzing to see the Winchester’s back in action

It’s hard to put into words just how dedicated fans are to this show. Supernatural ran for 15 seasons and left a mark on all those who watched it. On Reddit, fans of both Supernatural and The Boys shared their excitement at this unexpected reunion. One individual wrote, “I am watching supernatural and I can’t believe this is true.” Believe it brother, it’s happening.

Another individual itted to never having seen the show, yet they were excited nonetheless.

“I know its stupid I have never seen a single scene from supernatural, I have no idea what the show is about or who Jared or Misha are.

But that teaser gets me excited off vibe alone”

Of course, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise considering The Boys showrunner, Eric Kripke, created Supernatural, was executive producer and head of the show’s writer’s room, and even though he departed the series after season 5, remained onboard in various capacities throughout the show’s 15-year run. Since The Boys premiered in 2019, Kripke has been slowly bringing over everyone from his former project, piece by piece. Clearly, he just wants to go back to making more Supernatural, and I, for one, that decision.

This will bring the grand total of cast from Supernatural who now appear in The Boys to five, with Jim Beaver being the first to follow Kripke to his new show, where he plays a character named Robert Singer, (a definite reference to his Supernatural character, Bobby Singer). Season 4 also saw Jeffrey Dean Morgan the cast; Morgan played Sam and Dean’s father, John Winchester.

Now all we need is Mark Sheppard to come back and we’ll basically have ourselves another season of Supernatural. Something tells me Crowley and Butcher would get on like a house on fire.

‘The Boys’ season 5 leak is lining up with Americans’ soon-to-be-lived reality, and it’s giving 1939 vibes https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/tv/the-boys-season-5-leak-is-lining-up-with-americans-soon-to-be-lived-reality-and-its-giving-1939--vibes/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/tv/the-boys-season-5-leak-is-lining-up-with-americans-soon-to-be-lived-reality-and-its-giving-1939--vibes/#respond Sun, 15 Dec 2024 18:12:28 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1810590 Sometimes, life imitates art in the most nefarious ways.]]>

Recent leaks from The Boys season 5 set have revealed a chilling storyline that mirrors current developments in American politics and the private prison industry.

Recent set photos from The Boys Season 5 have revealed the construction of facilities called “Freedom Camps” across America, with one particularly chilling image showing “Freedom Camp 47” bearing the slogan “Freedom Sets You Free” – a disturbing echo of the infamous “Arbeit Macht Frei” (Work Sets You Free) signs that adorned Nazi concentration camps. These camps, operated under “Vernon Correctional Services,” appear to be part of Homelander’s (Antony Starr) vision for a new America, where dissidents and those opposing the superhero regime are systematically detained.

This development follows season 4’s conclusion, where Homelander seized control of the U.S. government. The Season 5 storyline also connects with Tek Knight’s (Derek Wilson) revelation that he had dedicated his prisons to Homelander for use as internment camps to imprison dissidents following his coup. With most of The Boys team now in Vought’s custody, except for an empowered Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Starlight (Erin Moriarty), viewers may witness these facilities’ horrific conditions firsthand. The season 5 leaks are so timely that they shockingly echo real changes in the U.S. prison system under Donald Trump.

Did Season 5 of The Boys predict Donald Trump’s alterations to U.S. prisons?

Following Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election, private prison executives celebrated what they describe as an “unprecedented opportunity.” Their enthusiasm stems from Trump’s campaign promise to implement the largest deportation operation in American history, including plans for mass detention camps along the border capable of holding tens of thousands of people.

The financial impact of Trump’s victory was immediate. The stock prices of private incarceration companies soared upon Trump’s victory, with GEO Group and CoreCivic seeing increases of 41% and 29%, respectively. During earnings calls on Nov. 7, 2024, executives from both major private prison companies outlined their expansion plans. In the leaked call, GEO Group’s founder George Zoley announced plans to scale up from their current 13,500 ICE detention beds to “over 31,000 beds.” The company is also developing comprehensive systems for mass detention and deportation, including air transportation services expected to generate approximately $25 million in annualized revenues.

CoreCivic CEO Damon Hininger emphasized the historic nature of this moment during his company’s earnings call, noting that in his 32 years with the company, they’ve rarely seen such potential for growth. The companies are preparing for what Zoley described as a “sea change” in interior and border enforcement.

They are right to be excited, as Trump’s team, including newly appointed “border czar” Tom Homan, has stated that the federal government will require “a massive amount of detention beds” to house migrants before deportation. The istration’s plans even include reinstating family detention, a practice terminated by President Biden, and implementing mandatory detention while eliminating the practice of releasing migrants.

What that means is tax-payers money is going to get funneled into the prison complex CEOs’ pockets, just so the Orange Man can move forward with his racist policies. Considering how Trump is even willing to challenge the Constitution to make his will law, the American people better buckle up for some chaotic four years.

Fans have figured out that Jack Quaid isn’t as MAGA-loving as his dad with a little help from ‘The Boys’ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/celebrities/fans-have-figured-out-that-jack-quaid-isnt-as-maga-loving-as-his-dad-with-a-little-help-from-the-boys/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/celebrities/fans-have-figured-out-that-jack-quaid-isnt-as-maga-loving-as-his-dad-with-a-little-help-from-the-boys/#respond Tue, 15 Oct 2024 09:13:27 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1768557 The apple thankfully DOES fall far from the tree. ]]>

Fans are flocking to Jack Quaid’s defense following his father, Dennis Quaid’s, controversial of Donald Trump at a recent rally in California.

In case you missed all the loud screaming, Dennis Quaid appeared for a speech during the Republican candidate’s rally in Coachella on October 13, with the actor telling the crowd that they “need to pick a side” ahead of the presidential election.

“Are we going to be a nation of law and order,” Quaid said while donning a Make America Great Again hat, “or wide open borders?”. Quaid’s appearance at the event came as a surprise for longtime fans (it has personally forever ruined The Parent Trap for me), and naturally led to questions around whether his son, The Boys star Jack Quaid, shared similar political views.

Thankfully, internet sleuths quickly deduced that Jack Quaid is not a MAGA er, thanks in part to his involvement in The Boys. One netizen discovered that Jack was listed as a member of the Geeks & Nerds for Harris/Walz initiative, and appeared on a pro-Harris alongside his The Boys costars Erin Moriarty (who plays Annie) and Chase Crawford (who plays The Deep), and Valorie Curry (who plays the Marjorie Taylor Greene-inspired Firecracker), among other castmates.

The Boys fans promptly breathed a sigh of relief that Jack hadn’t followed in his father’s footsteps, with one social media even imagining an exchange between the pair in the wake of Dennis’ pro-Trump speech. “Yes dad, I agree we do need to pick a side… except you picked the wrong one,” they wrote, alongside a screenshot of Jack’s attendance at the Harris fundraiser.

s found relief in the caption of Jack’s endorsement of Harris, which saw him praise the presidential hopeful and say she “crushed it last night.” Fans also discovered that Jack had gone on a comment-liking spree over on TikTok, ing those who were criticizing his father. Yikes.

https://twitter.com/professorgay/status/1846024452980855121

Jack is in good company as part of the Geeks & Nerds for Harris/Walz initiative, which has also enlisted the likes of Star Wars’ Mark Hamill, The Goonies’ Sean Astin and Star Trek’s George Takei.

Jack’s endorsement of Harris is perhaps to be expected, since The Boys is a satire of Trumpism and the very same sentiments echoed during Dennis’ speech (it must’ve gone over Dennis’ head). The actor recently portrayed fellow Republican president Ronald Reagan in the Sean McNamara biopic, Reagan, but maybe his appearance at a Trump rally is evidence that he has gone a little too method.

Dennis even went as far as comparing Reagan to Trump during his rally speech, saying that both former presidents “came along and said, ‘no, we’re not a nation in decline.’” The final nail in the coffin that made The Parent Trap well and truly lose its wholesomeness arrived when Dennis declared that Trump is his “favorite president of the 21st century.”

Dennis s the likes of Kid Rock, Amber Rose, Hulk Hogan and Elon Musk in endorsing Trump, while Jack is one of multiple celebrity endorsers of Harris, from Olivia Rodrigo to Bette Midler and Mark Ruffalo. I’ll probably never be invited anyway, but I think I know which of those names I’d at a dinner party and which I’d ask “sorry, who are you again?”.

The ‘fight for democracy’ enlists ‘Supernatural’ and ‘The Boys’ actors in a dream assembly https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/celebrities/the-fight-for-democracy-enlists-supernatural-and-the-boys-actors-in-a-dream-assembly/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/celebrities/the-fight-for-democracy-enlists-supernatural-and-the-boys-actors-in-a-dream-assembly/#respond Thu, 26 Sep 2024 08:24:47 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1758952 The fight is real when superheroes and angels are involved.]]>

The recent wave of for Kamala Harris kicked off following the September presidential debate when Taylor Swift publicly voiced her choice to endorse Harris, with many celebrities following in her footsteps. The fight continues with Supernatural and The Boys actors, right after the former actors voiced their .

Taylor Swift is easily one of the most influential artists of our time and her voice led to much praise from other Democratic-ing stars. Icons like Barbra Streisand, Stephen King, and Dolly Parton publicly praised Swift, showing their for Harris, as well. And, if you think the superstar’s influence only applies to her peers, just take a look at the numbers Swift drove to Vote.gov — a website informing citizens of their area’s voting parameters — after her social media post — 337,826 new visitors came after she linked to the website.

Among the flock of celebrities that showed their public for the Democratic party and Kamala Harris were Supernatural‘s Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins, who played Dean and Castiel, respectively. Collins has been very outspoken about the campaign and among the first to thank Swift for her endorsement. “Did you ever have a night where you felt like everything has changed? Thank you, @taylorswift, for this articulate endorsement of real leaders who want to shake off the foolish one and usher in a new Era of freedom and happiness for all,” he wrote after Swift endorsed Harris.

Ackles hasn’t been very outspoken about his political preferences and kept quiet although attended some socially liberal movements with Collins. However, he endorsed Beto O’Rourke for Senate in 2018. Now, Collins and Ackles are ing a bigger movement.

The Boys and Supernatural are ready to fight the good fight

Collins and Ackles have previously announced their appearance at the Geeks and Nerds event, a fundraiser in of the Harris and Walz campaign. Wonder Woman‘s Lynda Carter proved her worthiness of the title, as she’s hosting the star-studded event with the Science Guy Bill Nye. The get-together event featured a dream meet-up among many famous, beloved stars, including Supernatural and The Boys stars.

Misha Collins posted the photo, ing the two series together. There is more than their for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz that’s bringing them together because both paranormal series come from the same creator — Eric Kripke, who was there for it all.

On top of that, The Boys features many Supernatural actors, Ackles included as Soldier Boy, who attended the event alongside Jim Beaver who plays Bobby Singer on Supernatural and Robert Singer on The Boys. Collins, Richard Speight, Jr. (Gabriel), and Kim Rhodes (Jody Mills) were among the Supernatural stars from the selfie who haven’t cameod on The Boys yet.

Among the cast of The Boys were Valorie Curry (Firecraker), Erin Moriarty (Starlight), Jack Quaid (Hughie), and Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko). Laz Alonso (MM) was also at the event and tagged in a photo, but, unfortunately, wasn’t part of the iconic selfie.

The star-studded virtual fundraiser included Star Wars’ Mark Hamill, Stranger Things’ Sean Astin, and Star Trek’s George Takei, and many others, and raised over $511,000 for the campaign, getting help from some of the most beloved fandoms. The dream assembly between the cast of Supernatural and The Boys was just the bonus.

Today we’re going to talk about the nuances of having a healthy relationship to the media that you consume, and we’re going to do it in an article about The Boys, so you can scratch that one off your proverbial bingo card.

Of all the new additions to season four of The Boys, few can claim to have stolen the show quite as resolutely as Valorie Curry. The Tick star suited up as Firecracker, an alt-right supe and one of two new additions to the Seven, where her unofficial job was to rally the Homelander faithful with venomous lies about Starlight.

Curry played the reactionary puppeteer part of Firecracker to perfection, but it was the character’s methods to win over Homelander — her idol — that caught the attention of a certain sect of Boys viewers in a big way…

… which leads us to the incident in question; Curry appeared at Belfast’s Comic-Con earlier this weekend as a celebrity guest, where she was harassed by two fans who made snide comments and requests in reference to one of Curry’s scenes in The Boys. The scene in question? Where Firecracker won Homelander’s favor by breastfeeding him.

Curry, of course, was having none of it and made it very clear to these people that she was having none of it, only for the perpetrators to apparently become frustrated at Curry’s response, as though they genuinely believed they were acting like reasonable human beings.

Curry soon took to Instagram after the fact, posting a story to call for stricter boundaries between fans and celebrities, as one should; Curry is far from the only celebrity to be on the receiving end of parasocial discomfort, and that’s not even considering how many other forms it comes in (although, as things go, having random people antagonize you for the sake of getting a dubiously-sought reaction is pretty irritating).

Look, I get it; you find a piece of art you enjoy, you get attached to the people who had a hand in making it, and then you go and recognize someone from that piece of art — someone who you feel you’ve spent a lot of time with after consuming that art — and they remind you of the experience that you’ve had with that piece of art. In all likelihood, that experience was a personal one, and so you go and mistake that with having a personal rapport with this person you have never met before. Such is the trap of fandom and the relationship we have with entertainment.

But I couldn’t give less of a hoot how entrenched you are in such behaviors; you don’t walk up to a woman and start asking about her breasts before acting offended at her unwillingness to engage as though she’s the bad guy. Surely this common sense knowledge is more powerful than our parasocial impulses, right?

The first four seasons of The Boys are available to stream on Prime Video, with the fifth and final season eyeing a 2026 release.

There is seemingly no reprieve from the online vitriol that social media is willing to sling at its s. Now even some of the most beloved actors of our time are not safe.

It all started with one X ’s hot takes on the popular actors of the day. @imnotpopbase decided to categorize working actors by their looks and offer a thesis that is controversial at best.

The mean-spirited post argued that actors such as Jensen Ackles and Hugh Jackman were only considered attractive because of their whiteness. Ranking people based on attractiveness seems like a hateful relic from Mark Zuckerberg’s FaceMash days of the early aughts. And in addition to not being topical, it is also objectively incorrect. Many people on social media wasted no time rushing to correct the slight against these well-regarded professionals.

Social media defended Ackles and Jackman

Beauty is said to be in the eye of the beholder, but some things are just factual. You can tell that s spreading vicious rhetoric such as this were not in the Supernatural trenches of the 2000s. Ackles was a highly sought-after actor of his time, being one half of the duo that kept a franchise going for a decade and a half. And Jackman similarly needs no defense. Not when he is the cultural icon behind the cigar-smoking ball of fury. However, they weren’t the only targets. One of the other outliers on the photographic is, of course, Drake. Many commenters pointed out that he didn’t exactly fit in with the others on the list.

This posting could be ragebait, as one noted, but Drake’s placement could have other implications. Some savvy commenters referred to as much when responding to the post.

These comments likely have to do with the Drake and Kendrick Lamar discourse that has been overwhelming the pop culture cycle. Lamar has noted that Drake benefits from his racial identity in a way that others can’t. It’s possible this was using this post as a tongue-in-cheek way to address that he is privileged because of being biracial.

Other actors that made the list are unequivocal superstars such as Timothée Chalamet, Jeremy Allen White, Jacob Elordi, and Ryan Reynolds. These actors don’t seem to require an army, but principled social media s reacted nonetheless.

Ackles categorically wins the award of man who is most defended. It’s hard to disagree that he is the actor on the list that most adheres to traditional standards of beauty. And since Supernatural has ended, he has only gotten more popular. His brief stint as the villainous Soldier Boy in The Boys has earned him his own spin-off entitled Vought Rising.

But of course, this kind of backlash is exactly what s like @imnotpopbase want, which was noted by many commenters. This type of rhetoric is used to inspire discourse and add more attention to the ’s profile. It is what bored people set their sights on when they have nothing better to do. Regardless, it is high time that society dispenses with cruel debates that have only been exacerbated by the cesspool that is X. In the meantime, internet trolls should try to enjoy something for a change and maybe get reacquainted with the Supernatural pantheon.

Well, that’s bizarre: People are reporting online that their Prime Video subtitles are stuck on “I hate you” and some think it has something to do with watching The Boys. So if it’s happened to you, you’re not alone. But is it a technical error, or a coded message?

Inquiries about the unusual subtitles were posted on Reddit and X. The Reddit post appeared in early July 2024, and several X posts began circulating after that. Those who posted were understandably confused about what they saw and wondered if it was happening to anyone else. As David Farrier wrote on X, “the subtitles ‘i hate you’ will not stop displaying when i watch prime. turned them on and off again. action, drama, romance…. whatever i watch, i just have the words ‘i hate you’ looking back at me. it’s starting to affect the viewing experience & also my perception of myself.”

Earlier in July, someone posed a similar question on Reddit. Several comments on both posts said it was happening to other people, and many reported that it had only happened while they watched The Boys. But others said it happened to them watching different shows and movies. Reports say it happened on TVs and while streaming on an iPad. Many confirmed the problem was not fixed after turning the captions on and off or rebooting the app. Some reported the problem went away for a while but came back.

Prime Video’s ‘I hate you’ subtitle theories

With several anecdotal reports including photographs, there seems to be something strange going on with Prime captions, and there’s evidence to suggest it happened most often while watching The Boys.

Possible theories about why it might be happening include a prank from a laid-off employee, or since a few people report that it happened on their Samsung TVs, it might be linked to the “Samsung hack” according to one comment, presumably the 2019 Samsung hack of customer data. At this writing, those explanations are unconfirmed. Amazon Prime has not yet commented on the issue.

Now that the final season of The Boys is in production with a 2026 release window, let’s take a look at the comic book series that gave birth to the story and see what awaits all the main players at the end of this road.

Note that the following paragraphs contain major spoilers for The Boys comic books. We already know the television universe is doing its own thing and has already deviated from the original narrative, but some of these plot threads might still find their way to the TV show.

In The Boys season 4, Billy Butcher gave in to his illusions and vowed to destroy Homelander and his cabal of insurrectionists. The Boys, aghast at Butcher’s grotesque killing of Victoria Neuman, become separated as supes and government agents come to take them away.

Now nearly unstoppable, Homelander prepares to dominate the United States and eradicate all his opposition. The stage is set for the final season, so the real question is: What would happen to our favorite characters if the story stuck to the comic book ending?

The Boys comic book ending, explained

Anthony Starr as Homelander in The Boys
Photo via Amazon Prime Video

In The Boys comics, Homelander becomes more and more unhinged just as in the television show. He even sees footage of himself committing crimes that he doesn’t . This all culminates in Homelander and his supe loyalists assaulting the White House to take control.

The United States military is ready for them, however, having developed weapons specifically designed to kill supes. Butcher leads the counterattack and the military kills all of Homelander’s supe buddies. Butcher confronts Homelander in the Oval Office, where it’s revealed that Black Noir was a more powerful clone of Homelander, designed as a contingency to bring him down in case he goes rogue. Noir also reveals that he was the one who committed all those crimes and even raped Butcher’s wife.

Noir kills Homelander, but is gunned down by the military as he tries to get away. Butcher bashes in his head with a crowbar, finally killing him.

As for The Boys themselves, one of the final arcs in the story revolves around a strain of Compound V that can remotely kill every supe who has taken it. Butcher is hell-bent on using it to kill all the supes, but the Boys try to stop him. Butcher ends up killing Mother’s Milk, the Female (Kimiko), and Frenchie, leaving only Hughie.

Hughie tries to stop Butcher but they’re both injured. Butcher becomes paralyzed and begs Hughie to finish him off, but he refuses. Butcher lies to Hughie by saying he killed his parents. Hughie ultimately stabs Butcher and kills him.

Of the Boys, only Hughie survives, and of the Seven, only The Deep and Starlight manage to get out of the conflict alive, with Homelander killing both A-Train and Queen Maeve in earlier volumes. In the sequel epilogue, ten years have ed. Hughie and Starlight get married and the world returns to a state of normalcy with the near extinction of supes.

Pretty grim all around, eh? But then, we’ve come to expect nothing less of The Boys. There’s no telling if the television show will follow the original comic, but we can say with absolute certainty that fans shouldn’t expect a happy ending when the final season arrives.

In the most true-to-form fashion possible, the brain trust behind The Boys has chosen to announce its brand-new spinoff on the same day as the biggest Marvel Studios release of the year. Indeed, Vought Rising is officially in the works over at Prime Video ⏤ never mind all that Deadpool & Wolverine stuff.

Per Deadline, the prequel will star and be executive produced by Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, who will reprise their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront in a murder mystery-esque story set in the 1950s before Vought became the corporate giant that it is today. It will The Boys Presents: Diabolical, Gen V, and the The Boys: Mexico as part of Prime Video’s ever-expanding superhero franchise, and honestly? It picked a pretty bad time to rear its V-shaped head.

Make no mistake, I hope just as much as anyone that Vought Rising establishes itself as great television, but The Boys really needs to start re-evaluating what sort of space it’s occupying in the superhero media zeitgeist. Incidentally, the current zeitgeist is one that The Boys played a significant role in establishing; namely, the idea that superheroes are best used as cynical lampoon fodder and only have merit thanks to their commercial viability.

Even the Marvel Cinematic Universe has adopted its own version of this commercialized cynicism. The She-Hulk: Attorney at Law finale committed the great sin of believing that, by making fun of its own franchise’s formulaic failings, it absolved itself of having to do better. Since then, entries like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels have shown a shameless commitment to being nothing more than products in service to a brand, and even Deadpool & Wolverine, the franchise’s supposed new darling, chose to overstuff itself with sugary gimmicks and call it a day. This is disrespectful to both the film itself and the audiences who watch it. Why settle for a disted mess of cameos and references when you could have a collection of cameos and references that are held together by mature storytelling? The Spider-Verse films have done, and are doing, a fantastic job of that, so why are we okay with this direly uncreative standard that the world’s biggest superhero franchise is apparently settling for?

Vought Rising, then, with its downright despicable pair of leads, could very well end up being more of this superhero-sneering trend that, frankly, just feels too easy at this point. It is, for all intents and purposes, trendy to hate and make fun of and ridicule the idea of superhero media. Unless, of course, you’re James Gunn.

While we won’t know anything for sure until next year, the approach that Gunn seems to be taking with Superman — and, indeed, his incoming DC Universe as a whole — is telegraphing some immaculate vibes; vibes that are rooted in a genuine love for superheroes and what they were designed to represent in the first place. Moreover, the DC gaffer has already expressed a commitment to storytelling, and Gunn’s history in the superhero genre, from the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy to his DC work prior to his acclimation of co-chair, suggests an honesty to this new direction that seems all but ready to win people over in a big way.

The DCU represents a way forward for superhero media that aims to nurture the audience’s relationship to this genre rather than exploit or laugh at it. And while, again, I’m crossing all my fingers for Vought Rising to be a great show, it’s also coming at what might be the tail-end of this culture of superhero pessimism. And given that Vought Rising‘s parent series was more or less the ringleader of that culture, it just might be cashing in a bit late here.

And with any luck, that will absolutely be the case.

Between ‘Deadpool 3’ and ‘The Boys,’ should superhero movies be rated R moving forward? https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/marvel/between-deadpool-3-and-the-boys-should-superhero-movies-be-rated-r-moving-forward/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/marvel/between-deadpool-3-and-the-boys-should-superhero-movies-be-rated-r-moving-forward/#respond Fri, 26 Jul 2024 14:52:06 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1729958 Listening to Wolverine and Deadpool casually trade F-bombs is the stuff dreams are made of. ]]>

July has been a pretty good month for superhero PR, and it’s been a pretty gory month overall. Just one week after The Boys blessed us with a bloody nightmare of a finale, Deadpool & Wolverine kept the momentum going. Come to think of it, both Wade and Logan would be terrifyingly awesome of the Prime Video hit, and Deadpool 3 shows that Disney needs to let the family-friendly formula go!

After watching Deadpool & Wolverine, there’s something that makes this the MCU’s potential saving grace. When it was announced that the movie would be Rated R, I knew I had to catch it on opening day. After all, with all of his brash, knuckle-slicing, throat-cutting arrogance, Wolverine wasn’t blurting out curse words until 2017’s Logan, and I needed to see him in his element again. And that, to me, has always been why the mutants had never truly lived up to their potential.

Who knew it would take Disney to finally give superheroes some balls of steel? With all the universe-threatening villains and earth-shattering heroes that have graced the MCU in the past decade, we’re just now witnessing history">it’s about time we move forward, and leave the past few MCU phases behind. The people want bloodthirsty action, and hopefully, some more R-Rated superhero movies are on the horizon.

‘The Boys’ star Jack Quaid and 9 other nepo babies we actually like https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/celebrities/the-boys-star-jack-quaid-and-9-other-nepo-babies-we-actually-like/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/celebrities/the-boys-star-jack-quaid-and-9-other-nepo-babies-we-actually-like/#respond Wed, 24 Jul 2024 16:54:07 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1728865 It goes to show that it's the person behind the nepo baby that matters. ]]>

Aren’t all “nepo babies” picture-perfect-looking young celebs who find success in movies/TV/music because of their well-known families? We can’t help but think “must be nice…” every time we read about them, right?

There is no doubt that there are some celebrities out there who aren’t all that talented and who ride on the coattails of their last name, but honestly, it’s not super fun to talk about them. What about the nepo babies who would make it in their chosen fields no matter who their family was? There are a bunch, like The Boys star Jack Quaid, who is awesome and just happens to fit the nepo baby mold. Hey, it’s okay. We can’t help who our parents are, but we can be a decent person!

Jack Quaid

In July 2024, Jack Quaid was interviewed by Variety and was honest about being a nepo baby. He said “I don’t think it undermines my talent” because “I know that I work hard.” Of calling Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan “mom and dad,” he said, “I am an immensely privileged person.” The key to being a good nepo baby? Realizing that you are one!

While we love seeing Jack Quaid play Hughie Campbell on The Boys and are curious about what will happen in The Boys season 5, I will always think of him as Richie Kirsch in Scream (2022). The actor can seamlessly play both superhero and monster. Also, I have a soft spot for Meg Ryan thanks to the iconic ’90s rom-com You’ve Got Mail, and thankfully, there’s really nothing bad to say about her son.

Riley Keough

If your grandfather is Elvis Presley then you know people are going to talk about you for the rest of your life. Thankfully, Riley Keough has more talent than most people who don’t have this prestigious of a family tree. After obsessing over Taylor Jenkin Reid’s Daisy Jones & The Six, I was impressed by Riley’s performance as a troubled, spirited singer on the Hulu series. She was equally amazing as the late author Rebecca Godfrey in Under The Bridge. Sure, we can call Riley Keough a nepo baby… but she’s the coolest nepo baby ever.

Maya Hawke

You have to it you were interested to find out if Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke’s daughter could act as well as her talented parents, right? We’ve all been amazed at Maya Hawke’s acting chops, whether as bold and funny Robin Buckley in Stranger Things or a teenager in the opening scene of the first Fear Street Netflix movie. Maya seems so effortlessly cool and while we unfortunately can’t be best friends with her, we can at least watch her evolve as an actress. Her projects are unique enough that it can’t be claimed she’s copying her parents’ career in any way.

Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones’s parents are model Peggy Lipton and the amazing music producer and composer Quincy Jones, but she’s built something for herself, and we love watching her comedic talent. Instead of being the subject of wild news stories, Rashida seems to have always been hyper-focused on her career. She also made the documentary Quincy, which you can watch on Netflix, which was a nice way to share more of her dad’s amazing career. Whether starring in Celeste and Jesse Forever or in two of the best sitcoms ever, The Office and Parks and Recreation, we love Rashida.

Zoë Kravitz

Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz’s daughter has been acting for a while, and throughout her career, it’s become clear she’s never relied on her famous last name. Some of Zoë Kravitz’s most famous roles include Selina Kyle/Catwoman in The Batman and Bonnie Carlson in Big Little Lies. She’s also the co-writer and director of the thriller Blink Twice. We’re excited to see how her impressive career continues.

Jamie Lee Curtis

Yes, Laurie Strode is a nepo baby! Jamie Lee Curtis grew up with actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh as her parents, so it was no wonder she became a legend as well. From her turn as Donna Berzatto on The Bear to her absolutely iconic Halloween films, not to mention her unexpected role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, we bow down.

Sosie Bacon

The daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick looks just like both of them. After watching her play a therapist who is haunted by the scariest grins you could ever imagine in Smile, I think she’s one of the greatest nepo babies around. That horror movie is the perfect proof that when you have well-known parents, you still need to show people what you’re made of, and Sosie definitely does that.

Zelda Williams

Robin Williams’s kids could never be anything other than wonderful, and as we continue to grieve the loss of such an incredible actor and person, we’re watching his kids grow up. Whether voicing a character in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or directing the creative and unique Lisa Frankenstein, Robin’s daughter Zelda Williams has had a lot of success. We know she would have absolutely forged a great career path for herself regardless of her family tribulations.

Wyatt Russell

Of course you’re going to be an actor if Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are your parents… aren’t you? Well, Wyatt Russell didn’t start out wanting to make his way in Hollywood, which honestly makes us like him even more. According to Yahoo!, he got a hip injury while playing on a minor-league hockey team in Europe, which led to his departure from the sport and his segue into acting. He’s not just a pretty face starring in comedies, though. He’s had an interesting career that includes a wide range of films like Ingrid Goes West and the freaky Black Mirror episode “Playtest.”

Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross is beloved for playing Rainbow Johnson on Black-ish and, more recently, we saw her as Lisa in the brilliant American Fiction. Her dad is Robert Ellis Silberstein, a music exec, and Diana Ross is her mom, but she’s another actress whose talent speaks for itself. As she said about her famous mother in an interview with Flaunt Magazine, “She’s a mom before she’s ‘Diana Ross.’ My childhood was very anchored in real family life.”

Do we know if Jared Padalecki is ing ‘The Boys’ season 5 (and giving us the ‘Supernatural’ vibes of our dreams)? https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/tv/do-we-know-if-jared-padalecki-is-ing-the-boys-season-5-and-giving-us-the-supernatural-vibes-of-our-dreams/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/tv/do-we-know-if-jared-padalecki-is-ing-the-boys-season-5-and-giving-us-the-supernatural-vibes-of-our-dreams/#respond Tue, 23 Jul 2024 16:28:01 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1728190 Will the Winchester brothers get back together?]]>

Could Jared Padalecki guest star in The Boys season 5? Considering that the gritty, dark, and funny Amazon Prime series and the cheesy (but in a good way) CW drama Supernatural share a creator/showrunner, we think the actor could be the perfect addition to the last season.

The Boys has a great cast and we’ve loved seeing our fave actors on the show, from Simon Pegg to Jeffrey Dean Morgan. We can picture it now: getting cozy on the couch and gearing up to watch The Boys season 5… and getting to watch the adorable Jared Padalecki once again. Could this really happen?!

Will Jared Padalecki appear in The Boys season 5?

While it’s not official, it does seem super like we will see Jared Padalecki in The Boys season 5. Showrunner Eric Kripke, who created Supernatural, told Variety in May 2024 that since Walker isn’t getting another season, Padalecki would be able to appear next season. Kripke joked about needing to get all the “Supernatural Pokémon” and said that while the actor’s “schedule” didn’t allow for a part in the past, that’s changed now.

As for the actor who played one of the most popular Supernatural characters? He sounds happy to play a character on The Boys. He said in a June 2024 interview with Deadline, “I will be ready when he makes the phone call. I’ll just say ‘Okay, when am I flying out?'” He also said that they had discussed a part for him on The Boys that day… and we wish we could have been a fly on the wall.

Of course, we’re hoping to learn the answer to another question about The Boys season 5: will Jensen Ackles come back as Solider Boy… and will he and Jared Padalecki share some screen time? Seeing Sam and Dean Winchester together again would be nothing short of amazing. And since this time, they would likely both be superheroes, that sounds even better. While the brothers investigated strange happenings and creatures, they weren’t those figures themselves. It would be fun to see them play characters on The Boys who the other characters are interested in finding out more about. Maybe they could investigate something together, but honestly, we’d watch them do anything.

Also, let’s be real: we never wanted Supernatural to end. While it couldn’t last forever and had 15 seasons, we think Sam and Dean are still out there somewhere, fighting evil. Why can’t we pretend that they’re back on TV again… even though, of course, they’re going to be playing different characters?

Having both Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki star in The Boys would also feel like the right evolution of both of their careers. Both actors have a history of starring in TV shows that blend the paranormal or the magical with depictions of real life. Besides Supernatural, Ackles starred in Dark Angel, Smallville, and Big Sky. While Padalecki’s turn as Rory Gilmore’s (Alexis Bledel) Gilmore Girls boyfriend Dean was more realistic than that, his characters are always relatable and human no matter what. The Boys is a critical darling, and Padalecki would fit right in.

Since it doesn’t seem like Solider Boy’s days on The Boys are numbered, we might just see Sam and Dean in the same episode next season. We know we can’t have it all in life, but we’d really love this.
