when Marvel said it was going to slow down its streaming output? Yeah, that may have been a slight stretch of the truth considering that 2026 is on course to deliver five separate Disney Plus productions, including three second seasons of pre-established favorites, another Special Presentation (you won’t want to miss this one), and a brand-new show that might just be the most ambitious of the lot. Prepare, Marvel fans, to embark on a Vision Quest.

And, wouldn’t you know it, it seems the quest has already begun for those behind the scenes. Production on the Paul Bettany-starring series, in which the Avengers alum will reprise his role as White Vision, appears to have started in the past few weeks We’re pretty sure we’re not supposed to know this yet, but the synthezoid cat is out of the bag thanks to cast member Todd Stashwick confirming that a run of night shoots in London have been keeping him away from home.

“Buzzing from a week of night shoots,” Stashwick shared on Instagram, alongside a selfie taken at a London train station. “Bleary and grateful. I love what I do. But I miss my family and friends. London is very kind to me though and living out some serious dreams. Stay warm.”

Why Vision Quest might secretly be Marvel’s most ambitious show

Stashwick is just one of a roster of eclectic actors who have been gathered for Vision Quest, which reveals how it is actually much more ambitious than it seems. Given everyone who is involved in the series, it can easily be claimed that it is a backdoor sequel to no less than five separate MCU projects, dating all the way back to the franchise’s inception in 2008.

First of all, Paul Bettany isn’t the only veteran from the first Iron Man movie in the show, as Faran Tahir is set to reprise his role as Raza (the Ten Rings terrorist who kidnaps Tony Stark, and therefore necessitates the creation of Iron Man). It’s possible Raza is working for a new big bad this time around, though, as none other than James Spader is making his long-awaited sophomore Marvel appearance as Ultron. Seeing as Ultron is kind of Vision’s father, it only makes sense that he’s back in the picture as White Vis attempts to determine his own identity.

Meanwhile, we have Ruaridh Mollica in a mysterious role, which is widely believed to be Tommy Maximoff/Speed. This would make a lot of sense as Vision Quest surely has to connect with its fellow WandaVision spin-off, Agatha All Along — which ended with Tommy’s twin Billy setting off on his own quest to find his brother. So, all in all, Vision Quest has to satisfyingly tie together plot-threads from those two series, Iron Man, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and of course Infinity War, which killed off the original Vision.

Stashwick is reuniting with Star Trek: Legacy creator Terry Matalas, who is serving as showrunner (making this the first entry in the “WandaVerse” not to be shepherded by Jac Schaeffer). With everyone and everything it needs to weave together somehow, Vision Quest is at risk of buckling under the weight. If it sticks the landing, though, this could be yet another successful follow-up to Bettany’s last MCU outing. Because what is Vision Quest if not WandaVision persevering?

Marvel‘s 2025 slate has only just begun — and can only get better from here after Captain America: Brave New World — but it’s hard not to already start thinking about what’s to come for the MCU in 2026. In many years, what the studio has in store for us this year is just a precursor to what could well be the most significant year for the cinematic universe since the Infinity Saga ended in 2019.

Seeing as Marvel’s schedule seems to switch around much more these days than it used to, things could still change, but — as of this early stage in the year — it appears we already know the full slate of what’s to come from the MCU in 2026. All told, it currently seems like the studio has four movies and six TV projects to offer up over the following calendar year, making 10 separate releases in total. Basically, Marvel fans, you ain’t gonna starve.

Movies

Untitled Marvel film #1 – Feb. 13

First up on the slate is this mystery Marvel release pegged to drop almost 12 months to the day after Brave New World. Unfortunately, given its impending arrival and the fact we don’t think Marvel has shot a whole movie without us knowing, there is a good chance this date could be pulled from the calendars. At one time, it’s likely this would’ve been filled by Armor Wars, but now we know that’s deader than Tony Stark. Speaking of…

Avengers: Doomsday – May 1

Iron Man may be dead, but Robert Downey Jr. is back in the MCU as Doctor Doom. That’s right, we’re already almost at the end of the Multiverse Saga, with Avengers: Doomsday set to offer the first part of an epic, no doubt gargantuanly expensively tale that will conclude a year later with 2027’s Secret Wars. Can the Russos and co. make something that measures up to the might of Infinity War and Endgame? That is the $3 billion question.

Spider-Man 4 – July 31

If we’re very, very lucky, 2026 could deliver the best one-two punch of MCU movies we’ve had in years. That’s assuming that Doomsday is everything we want it to be and Spider-Man 4 is a worthy follow-up to No Way Home. Tom Holland and Zendaya are back for this top-secret sequel which shoots in London this summer. Expect something a little different from the Homecoming trilogy with Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton at the helm.

Untitled Marvel film #2 – Nov. 6

There’s so much mystery surrounding Marvel’s 2026 movie slate it’s like Kevin Feige’s been replaced with Quentin Beck. This November slot was definitely originally intended to be filled by Blade, but it remains to be seen if Marvel can pull it together in time. Considering The Fantastic Four was made super-fast, it’s not necessarily impossible. Worst case scenario, we only get 2 MCU films next year. If that happens, at least we’ve got six TV releases to tide us over…

Wonder Man

Wonder Man actually kicks off this year, but its final episodes will presumably drop across January after it premieres in December 2025. This comedic series follows Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, a Hollywood star turned superhero. The show has been dubbed a “love letter to acting” by Marvel’s head of television Brad Winderbaum, who also called it “the best show no one’s ever seen.” All right, color us intrigued.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (season 2)

Anyone who thinks Marvel’s 2025 is off to a bad start after Brave New World, do yourself a favor and binge Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, an innovative yet nostalgic Spidey cartoon in the classic mold. Thankfully, Marvel’s confirmed to be committing to yearly releases of this show for the immediate future. Season 2 is 100% coming in 2026 and a third is expected for 2027.

X-Men ’97 (season 2)

On a similar note, X-Men ’97 blew Marvel-loving audiences away when it debuted on Disney Plus in spring 2024. After a year’s break, the acclaimed sequel to the 1990s’ X-Men: The Animated Series is back for another run of action-packed, allegorical adventures in 2026. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the ugly behind-the-drama surrounding the show doesn’t impact on its quality.

Daredevil: Born Again (season 2)

Daredevil: Born Again was originally ordered for 18 episodes, which were ultimately carved in two, so it’s no surprise that season 2 will follow hot on the first run’s heels in 2026. Unfortunately, Marvel must’ve misplaced an episode somewhere as season 2 is confirmed to consist of eight episodes rather than nine. Filming is already about to begin in NYC, with Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Deborah Ann Woll all definitely returning.

The Punisher – Special Presentation

In a welcome surprise twist, Marvel has also recently announced that Born Again season 2 will be accompanied by another Defenders Saga spin-off. Namely, a Special Presentation — you know, like Werewolf by Night and the Guardians holiday special — starring Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. “It’s like a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story,” said hype man extraordinaire Winderbaum.

Vision Quest

Last but not least, in the wake of Agatha All Along‘s success, the WandaVision-Verse continues with a second spin-off in the form of Vision Quest (provisional title). This time, Paul Bettany is back as White Vision, as he goes on a journey of self-discovery… and probably also a journey of actual discovery, if rumors that he’ll track down his long-lost son, Tommy/Speed, are to be believed. Also watch out for James Spader’s Ultron (!) and *checks notes* that terrorist who kidnapped Tony in Iron Man. Truly, the MCU is coming full circle.

Are Marvel‘s fantastic four finally about to reunite in the MCU? Wait, no, sorry, not the actual Fantastic Four, but that other family of superheroes who have become firm fan-favorites. Although Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben are about to take their first steps into the franchise this summer, their rivals to the title of the MCU’s most beloved family are well on their way to getting the band back together, thanks to an exciting new casting.

After Agatha All Along, the hype for Disney Plus’ Vision TV series suddenly skyrocketed, and it’s doing so again after Scottish-Italian actor Ruaridh Mollica was announced to have ed the show in an intriguing role. Officially, the 25-year-old is being pegged to play a character called Tucker… But Marvel fans have been down this (witches’) road before, and they think they know what’s what.

Welcome to the MCU, Tucker — or should we say… Tommy Maximoff?

Vision causes hype to speed up by possibly, maybe, probably casting Scarlet Witch’s other son

Image via Disney Plus

Previously in the MCU: In the Agatha All Along finale, Joe Locke’s Billy Maximoff/Kaplan/Wiccan managed to resurrect the soul of his twin brother, Tommy, into the body of some poor kid who died during a swimming pool prank gone wrong. At the end of the episode, Wiccan and Ghost Agatha set off in search of Tommy, a plot-thread that promises to be picked up in fellow WandaVision spinoff Vision.

So that’s why the news that Marvel has just cast a promi-and-coming star — fresh off his breakout role in indie darling Sebastian — as a character called “Tucker” is causing fans to request elaboration.

Is that you, Tommy?

You knew someone had to say it.

So, just to prepare you early, in case we’re about to hear a lot from him in the MCU in the years to come, it’s pronounced “Roo-Ray Mollica.” You’re welcome.

But is Mollica really Tommy reborn? Is Billy about to do his best Mufasa impression and declare “My brothaaa!” Well, it is possible he’s really just some kid called Tucker, but so far Vision has only cast the most significant of cast-, so that would be surprising. At present, the curiously eclectic cast includes Paul Bettany (back as White Vision), James Spader (voicing Ultron once more), and Faran Tahir (reprising Raza — you know, the terrorist from Iron Man). Todd Stashwick is also on board in an undisclosed role. As Tommy Shepherd’s father, perhaps?

If Mollica really is our new Tommy then it looks like fans have caught just as quickly as they did when his supposed new superhero sibling, Joe Locke, was first cast in Agatha All Along. At least, if we’re right, Tommy has an actual fake name this time. It was mighty hard for Marvel to convince us Locke wasn’t Billy when his character was literally only known as Teen. We’ve got plenty of time to speculate on Speed’s spontaneous respawning, as Vision isn’t scheduled to get here until 2026.

Nothing is gone from the MCU forever. Marvel‘s first project of 2025 makes that much clear, as Captain America: Brave New World will bring back Tim Blake Nelson’s the Leader for the first time since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Seeing as not many fans were scrambling to see the guy with the funky forehead again 17 years later, you might’ve thought this would win the prize for unlikeliest MCU comeback. And yet an Disney Plus show is about to snag the top spot.

The Disney Plus show in question is Paul Bettany’s Vision series — originally, and maybe still, called Vision Quest. Following hot on the heels of the surprisingly successful Agatha All Along, the Vision show is yet another expansion of the WandaVision-verse, this time starring White Vision as he seeks to “regain his memory and his humanity.” Star Trek: Picard‘s Terry Matalas serves as showrunner.

Remarkably, Vision (/Quest) was already set to bring back a long-lost villain in the form of James Spader’s Ultron, returning for the first time since 2015’s Age of Ultron. This addition makes a lot of sense, though, considering Ultron’s ties to Vision’s creation. The latest casting news is far more head-scratching, though, as it delves all the way back to the MCU’s origins.

The MCU’s original villain is coming back (and no, it’s not Ironmonger)

Raza in Iron Man
Screenshot via Marvel Studios

According to Deadline, Faran Tahir is back in the MCU for the Vision series, reprising his role as Raza. This marks Tahir’s second ever Marvel appearance, even though he was there when the franchise took its first steps. For those that haven’t caught the 2008 film that started it all for a while (go watch it, it still holds up!), Raza is the leader of the Ten Rings terrorist cell that kidnaps Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark in Afghanistan, precipitating his creation of the first Iron Man suit.

Although Jeff Bridges’ Obadiah Stane/Ironmonger is revealed to be the one pulling the strings by the end of the movie, Raza’s antagonistic role in the film’s first half means he really has the honor of being the original MCU villain. Even so, we never expected Tahir to come back, especially since the Ten Rings have been so thoroughly retconned since Iron Man Shang Chi introduced the real Ten Rings and confirmed that immortal warlord Wenwu was the organization’s actual leader.

On a broader scale, Raza’s return is so unexpected because the MCU has come so far since it was about arms dealers getting held for ransom by Afghan terrorists. Something that’s attested to by the fact his second appearance is coming in a show all about a resurrected robot (whose original self was married to a witch and used to be a sitcom star). Exactly how he’ll factor into White Vision’s story is anyone’s guess.

Tahir is the fourth cast-member to be attached to Vision so far, after Bettany, Spader, and Todd Stashwick (reuniting with Matalas after Picard), who’s been hired for an unknown role. Expect more to follow as filming starts ahead of the series looking to land on Disney Plus sometime in 2026.

Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along episode 9.

The Agatha All Along finale dropped some major clues about what’s next for the Maximoff family, which Marvel comics enthusiasts immediately picked up on, and it could mean good news for Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.

Many hopeful Marvel fans tuned into Agatha All Along hoping to get some clarity about Wanda’s whereabouts after she was crushed under Mount Wundagore in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. While the show didn’t confirm she’s still alive, it did seem to rule out the idea that she is gone for good through multiple callbacks to her character and ambiguous comments from Agatha. Still, Scarlet Witch fans weren’t too pleased with the show using the popular superhero to draw in viewers, without the proper payoff.

“Y’all really spent the entire season using Wanda’s “death” as a gag and didn’t even have the balls to confirm or deny it in the finale that’s some punk ass s***,” one particularly unhappy fan complained. “Milking Wanda the entire series to completely ignore the question as to whether or not she’s still alive,” said another viewer. “They used Wanda’s name in every episode and trailer to promote this show, teasing her status as dead or alive, just to never give us any confirmation,” a third protested.

A bit of perspective, however, may paint a different picture. You see, Agatha turning into a ghost at the end of Agatha All Along wasn’t just a random way to allow her to continue playing a part in Billy’s story. This is actually a storyline plucked right from the comics, wherein a ghostly Agatha helps Wanda cross the Witches’ Road.

What Agatha’s ghost means for Scarlet Witch’s future in the MCU

Wiccan and Agatha's ghost in Agatha All Along finale
Image via Marvel Studios

The appearance of Agatha in her ghostly form at the end of Agatha All Along is a good omen for Scarlet Witch’s return to the MCU as it’s a direct nod to the eponymous 2015 comics by James Robinson.

In this series, Agatha comes back from the dead after being killed by Wanda to mentor her in her journey to save the cosmic entity Witchcraft from being destroyed by the cosmic entity Chaos. While making their way down the Witches’ Road, the two meet Wanda’s biological mother, Natalya, who brings Agatha back to life.

The so-called “covenless witch” will continue to stay close to the Maximoff family, with the final moments of Agatha All Along teasing a quest for Wanda’s other son and Billy’s twin, Tommy, which is expected to take place either in the Vision Quest show, or throughout the rumored Wiccan series, and possibly the rumored Scarlet Witch film. Aubrey Plaza’s character from the Disney Plus show, Rio Vidal/Lady Death, is also rumored to make further appearances in the MCU.

While Marvel will most likely not be adapting this storyline verbatim, choosing instead to make Agatha Billy’s mentor, the mere presence of her ghost suggests a purposeful scheme to get fans of the comics to make this connection and get excited about Scarlet Witch’s return.

The witchcraft and wizardry side of the franchise, also known as “Wandaverse,” has become incredibly popular with the fandom, so Kevin Feige and co. will definitely want to continue betting on this web of powerful, magical characters, starting with the queen.

Warning: This article contains full spoilers for Agatha All Along episodes 8 and 9.

With Agatha All Along outing the two big reveals we had already figured out in its past couple episodes — namely, that Teen was Wiccan and Rio was Death — the show’s two-part finale really had free rein to wow us with whatever twists and turns it saw fit. As it happened, the spinoff concluded in a way that eerily echoes how its mother series WandaVision ended.

This is the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, but honestly the witchy corner of the franchise has become a saga unto itself — the Maximoff saga, you might say. Beginning in WandaVision, continuing in Doctor Strange 2 and now Agatha, fans have been hoping that the following link in the chain would be a Young Avengers project or a Scarlet Witch movie, but the Agatha finale seemingly confirms exactly what’s coming next. Buckle up, witches, because it’s going to be another long wait.

Agatha All Along heavily teases where its storyline will continue, and it’s not going to be soon

Wiccan and Agatha's ghost in Agatha All Along finale

By the end of Agatha All Along, Agatha has sacrificed her own life to protect Billy’s, but the good news is she’s now a ghost — complete with white, comics-accurate hair. Together, the pair set off on a mission to find Wiccan’s missing brother, Tommy Maximoff, after Billy managed to resurrect his twin during the final trial of the Witches Road. “Let’s go find Tommy,” Agatha says, in the last line of the show. So what does this all mean?

The odds are this is directly setting up both Billy and Ghost Agatha’s return in Vision Quest. Starring Paul Bettany as White Vision, this second WandaVision off-shoot has been in development for years, with showrunner Jac Schaeffer originally attached. Now that we know it so closely jumps off from Agatha‘s ending, it’s no surprise it’s been in the works for so long. That said, Schaeffer had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts so Star Trek: Picard‘s Terry Matalas stepped in as EP. Expect Billy to encounter the S.W.O.R.D.-created clone of his dad as he searches for Tommy.

The bad news, meanwhile, is there’s little chance of Vision Quest being right around the corner. Shooting hasn’t even started yet and Marvel has just locked in its completed Disney Plus slate for 2025. Those who have stuck with the Maximoff Saga this long are already preparing themselves for another three years before we get the next piece of the puzzle, much like Agatha came three years after WV.

But do we really have to wait another three years for Vision Quest? After all, exactly 36 months from now, the Multiverse Saga will already be over, seeing as Avengers: Secret Wars arrives in May 2027. It’s actually looking like the show will be closer to two years away, perhaps less. Production is due to begin in 2025 with a release somewhere in 2026 anticipated. It shouldn’t be quite as bad as the wait between WandaVision and Agatha, then, but Marvel’s still making us Maximoff lovers suffer for our (witch)craft.

Agatha All Along fans are whipping out their spy glasses to deduce who might be appearing in the series’ spinoff, after news that the sequel show is casting a new character.

According to X page Scarlet Witch News, Marvel’s series Vision Quest — a spinoff of Agatha and sequel to WandaVision — is currently casting a “young teen” in a co-lead role. The source also claims that the filming schedule for Vision Quest, which will see Paul Bettany reprise his role as the titular hero, will kick off early next year.

Being the amateur Sherlock Holmes’ that they are, Marvel fans have a few thoughts on who the source might be referring to when it mentions casting a young teen, especially in light of the events of Agatha All Along

While it remains unconfirmed, fans theorized that Marvel is currently looking for someone to portray Tommy Maximoff, the son of WandaVision’s Scarlet Witch and the twin brother of Agatha’s Billy Maximoff. As a refresher, Wanda created the twin brothers Tommy and Billy, also known as Speed and Wiccan, as part of the hex she cast in WandaVision.

By the end of that series, Wanda had released the souls of the twins she created to find new bodies, and while we learn in Agatha that Billy found the body of William Kaplan, the whereabouts of Tommy are less clear. The phrasing of the Vision Quest casting announcement is particularly eyebrow-raising given that, in Agatha, Joe Locke’s character was also credited only as “teen”, before he was revealed to be Wiccan/ Billy Maximoff.

Given all that Tommy lore, including his absence (so far) in Agatha and his proximity to Vision and Wanda, fans think they’ve confirmed that it’s Speed/Tommy who Marvel is currently looking to cast. The images accompanying the post even include snaps of Locke’s character in Agatha, as well as the younger twin brothers as they appeared in WandaVision.

“I need the maximoff family reunion asap,” one fan wrote in response to the casting news, with another sarcastically quipping that they “wonder who that could be.” Others were more forthright in declaring that Marvel’s casting process means “we got Tommy,” but not everyone is sold on the theory just yet.

Some fans suggested that the young teen Marvel is looking for will be “either Tommy or Vin”, the latter of whom is a synthezoid character created by Vision in the comics. “They’re not casting for Tommy but for Visions synthezoid kids I bet, they want Viv for the Young Avengers I’m sure,” one fan theorized.

It could also be the case that Marvel isn’t casting for either character, and is looking to fill a role that no one has guessed yet, so we might just need to keep our ears to the ground.

As we await further news about which young teen will eventually nab the undisclosed role, we at least know a few confirmed details about Vision Quest. Alongside Bettany, we do know that the series will also see the return of James Spader as Avengers villain Ultron, as well as Todd Stashwick in a yet-to-be-confirmed role. The series is expected to arrive in 2026 and will be released on Disney Plus.

‘Agatha All Along’ episode 4 might’ve just dropped the MCU’s biggest hint yet that Scarlet Witch is still working her magic https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/marvel/agatha-all-along-episode-4-mightve-just-dropped-the-mcus-biggest-hint-yet-that-scarlet-witch-is-still-working-her-magic/ https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/marvel/agatha-all-along-episode-4-mightve-just-dropped-the-mcus-biggest-hint-yet-that-scarlet-witch-is-still-working-her-magic/#respond Thu, 03 Oct 2024 12:34:51 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.moviesx.org/?p=1762903 Never mess with a Mama Witch's young.]]>

We’re at the mid-point of Agatha All Along as of last night, and while there have been plenty of juicy developments at the behest of Rio Vidal and Agatha’s presumedly-deceased-but-also-not descendent, a strong two-episode premiere seems to have given way to a lost plot.

Marvel‘s latest venture appears to be leaning a bit too heavily on the vibes without providing the thematic heft that makes those vibes nutritious. All this, while insisting on telling this kind of story in the context of a serialized miniseries.

But never mind that, because the potion experts of the MCU fandom need very few ingredients to concoct a solid fan theory, and this one goes back to Jac Schaeffer’s WandaVision masterclass.

that “Sokovian lullaby” that Wanda sang to Billy and Tommy back in WandaVision? Well, who’s to say that that wasn’t the source of the sigil that prevents him from revealing his identity to anyone? After all, the son of not only an Avenger, but a fairly infamous one, wouldn’t be exactly safe if he harbored a public identity, certainly not until he became Wiccan thanks to the Witches’ Road, of course.

As for Tommy, we have a whole Vision-centric miniseries still in the oven, and you’d best believe its prime directive will be to set up Speed.

If this turns out to be true, it will be a stupendously novel piece of plotting. It will also, unfortunately, hardly have any effect on the quality of the show’s writing overall.

Let’s assume this theory is true. What does it accomplish from an emotional standpoint? We already know Wanda would do anything to protect her children, so it will be no great surprise if the Sokovian lullaby was a protection spell. And speaking of no great surprises, if Joe Locke turns out to be portraying anyone other than Billy Kaplan, then Marvel is just coming up with reveals for the sake of reveals, none of which are rooted in any true emotion or drama. Agatha, hung up over the death of her son Nicholas, can have a much stronger and tension-packed arc if the boy she believes to be her son turns out to be someone else (i.e. Billy).

Moreover, we can hardly think of this reveal as a setup-and-payoff situation, because we’re only acknowledging the Sokovian lullaby as a setup retroactively. In fact, setups seem to be Marvel’s entire leg at this point, and it’s getting flimsier by the minute.

Agatha All Along is currently streaming on Disney Plus, with new episodes releasing every Wednesday until the two-episode season finale on Oct. 30.

We’ve still got a few weeks to go before Agatha All Along debuts on Disney Plus, but that doesn’t mean the MCU is slumbering. New looks at Marvel‘s releases are dropping all the time, even if you have to be particularly quick on the draw to catch them. Not to mention that a fiend from the Avengers’ past is ri from the ashes of the Infinity Saga to plague his pseudo-son/brother. Yes, don’t worry, Deadpool & Wolverine is just the beginning of the unexpected MCU comebacks to come.

Marvel Studios pulls a Megalopolis by sharing new sizzle reel for the MCU’s future, and then immediately deleting it

This week, Megalopolis made headlines once its new trailer was posted but then immediately pulled when it was found to contain fraudulent critics quotes. Clearly, Marvel thought that was a neat way of grabbing column inches as it pulled the same trick the very next day. On Thursday, the official Marvel X shared a stunning new sizzle reel to celebrate the company’s 85th anniversary. The only hitch is some social media intern must’ve shared it too early as it was swiftly taken down. Nonetheless, this being the internet, it ain’t gone for good, and you can see it for yourself here:

Yes, in among the shots of Stan Lee in his 1970s prime and rare footage of Kevin Feige without his cap, there’s some juicy new footage from both Thunderbolts* and Captain America: Brave New World. These shots were shown to audiences at D23, but this is the first time they have been officially released online. Well, at least for a few moments.

Deadpool & Wolverine squeezed in as many cameos as it could handle — and then it threw in some more for good measure — but apparently, it couldn’t find room for what would’ve been the coolest multiversal variant of the lot. Concept artist David Masson has taken to Instagram to share his official concept work for a tragically deleted Deadpool-Wolverine hybrid variant that he dubs Wolverinepool (he also goes by Wolverpool or Deadverine).

I mean, just look at this beautiful dreamboat! They managed to get Henry Cavill, Chris Evans, and Matthew McConaughey but couldn’t stick this guy into the big Deadpool Corps fight scene? The only acceptable reason for his absence from the movie is that Ryan Reynolds elected to save him for a big role in Deadpool 4.

The Age of Ultron is once again upon us as James Spader returns for Vision spin-off series

Ultron, the oft-overlooked red silver-headed stepchild of Avengers villains, is finally returning to the MCU! The Hollywood Reporter has broken the story that James Spader will be reprising his role as Tony Stark’s evil AI creation in the Vision Quest TV series, which will see Paul Bettany returning as White Vision for the first time since WandaVision. Similarly, this marks the first time Spader has reclaimed his role since 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron — Ross Marquand voiced the Infinity Ultron variant from What If…? season 1. Guys, I think we now know what was up with that weird vanishing trailer glitch. Blame Ultron.

You might think that X-Men ’97 turning out to be so astronomically awesome would take some of the pressure off of Marvel’s live-action X-Men reboot, but actually it’s made its task all the more difficult. Now it doesn’t just have to better the Fox films, it has to sur what many are widely calling the greatest adaptation of the mutant team in screen history.

Maybe that’s why fans are all saying the same thing after the reboot in question has finally had a major breakthrough…

X-Men reboot finds its writer, and now everyone is making the same plea

Good news, everyone! Marvel’s X-Men reboot is officially underway after it’s found Michael Lesslie as its screenwriter. Honestly, Lesslie’s filmography to date is a little checkered — The Hunger Games prequel? Cool! The Assassin’s Creed movie? Umm… — but this is still an exciting development. If Lesslie is wondering where to start, at least fans are helping him out by shouting the same request from the rooftops: please make Cyclops as cool as he is in X-Men ’97, as opposed to the laser-eyed milquetoast he was in Fox’s franchise.

Marvel’s Vision series gets a release window, adds Star Trek: Picard veteran

Today is a good day for Marvel projects we’ve been waiting forever for finally getting let out of the freezer. Marvel’s Vision series — formerly known as Vision Quest — is, at long last, coming in 2026 after being in development since 2022. Paul Bettany is all set to return as White Vision, while Star Trek: Picard showrunner Terry Matalas is on hand to serve as EP, replacing WandaVision‘s Jac Schaeffer. Will this be the backdoor Young Avengers project we all want it to be? Given that it’s coming from the man who made Picard‘s final season a fan-pleasing cameo-filled extravaganza, our fingers are crossed.

Glen Powell says he’s not interested in “Marvel fare,” but I beg to differ

Why, Glen, why??? We were rooting for you! Sorry to break it to you, anyone who was hoping to see Glen Powell in the MCU, but the Hit Man star has itted that he’s not looking to star in any “Marvel fare” anytime soon. While that’s a huge bummer, it’s worth noting that he never said anything about “DC fare,” so the door is still open for him to claim a role that he’s clearly born to play: Booster Gold, in James Gunn’s DCU. Chris Pratt has had his name on that character for a while now, but honestly Powell is the perfect person for the part. We just need him to realize that.

Apparently, WandaVision spinoffs are like buses — you wait ages for one and then two come along at once. Marvel’s very first Disney Plus series debuted in January 2021 and, as of the beginning of 2024, it’s still yet to release a follow-up. But be patient, honorary Westview residents, because the world of WandaVision will soon be expanded upon in not one, but two separate off-shoots: Agatha All Along and the show currently known as Vision Quest.

Agatha has long been in the works and is finally due to hit streaming in September 2024, but for ages Vision Quest has been living on the outer edges of the MCU’s projects, as Marvel has taken forever to even officially announce its existence. This is despite the show being reliably reported to be in development since October 2022. Thankfully, we can rest assured that it really is happening, thanks to a major update dropping as of late May 2024.

On a quest of your own to find out everything we know about Vision Quest? Well, search no further. As Vis himself might say, welcome home…

Vision Quest cast and crew

Who’s in the cast of Vision Quest? I can sum that up for you in just two words: 1) Paul. 2) Bettany. Given the liminal space the series exists in right now, the only thing we can say for certain about who will be in it is that the titular Vision will return. During an appearance at Orlando’s MegaCon in February 2024, Bettany reignited hopes that the show could happen soon. Breaking Marvel actor etiquette, the Avengers: Infinity War star went and declared that he was “100%” coming back as Vision in the near future.

That’s it for confirmed cast, but rumors abound that the show will be a backdoor Young Avengers project. At the very least, the expectation is that the teenage versions of Vision and Wanda’s sons, Billy and Tommy, will feature. , Joe Locke is widely believed to be playing an aged-up Billy in Agatha, although the exact nature of his role is being kept under wraps. Tommy isn’t anticipated to be included in that spinoff, which means Vision Quest might serve as his reintroduction to the MCU.

As for the crew, Variety has confirmed that Terry Matalas has been hired as showrunner, with his sterling work on Star Trek: Picard season 3 said to be instrumental in his Marvel hiring. He is stepping into the shoes of WandaVision EP Jac Schaeffer who was originally set to helm Vision Quest, just as she is Agatha. However, in the wake of the strikes ending in September 2023, Schaeffer and her writing team removed the project from their WGA profiles. We initially believed this was the death-knell of the show, but thankfully Matalas has swooped in to save the day.

Vision Quest storyline

Tragically, as far as we know, the original Vision is dead, so don’t expect him to return in Vision Quest. Instead, his S.W.O.R.D.-created counterpart, White Vision, will be the central character of this spinoff. As per Deadline, when the show was revealed in October 2022, this series will follow White Vision as he attempts to regain both his memories and his humanity.

The show’s title is pulled directly from the 1980s storyline of the same name. Published in the pages of West Coast Avengers, “Vision Quest” explored how the Californian-based superhero team rebuild Vis after he is dismantled, but he comes back without his soul. This creates a heartbreaking schism in both his relationship with his wife, Wanda, and his twin boys.

While Elizabeth Olsen is unlikely to be back as Wanda, it’s easy to see how Vision’s bond with his sons could be the emotional backbone of the TV adaptation instead. Likewise, it’s worth pointing out that Vision’s mind is a copy of Simon Williams/Wonder Man in the comics. And what’s another Disney Plus production coming up? Wonder Man, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Could Simon crossover to help White Vision restore his humanity?

Vision Quest potential release window

Going by Bettany’s excitement to reprise Vision again and an update we received in November which claimed production would take place in 2024, we can hazard a guess that filming on Vision Quest is due sometime later this year. Unfortunately, there’s no chance that the show will slot into Marvel’s pre-existing slate for 2025, which is already packed with various streaming releases like Daredevil: Born Again and Ironheart.

Instead, Variety writes that Vision Quest is heading to Disney Plus sometime in 2026. It’s far too early to be any more specific than that at this juncture, but it’s possible that the series could mirror the highly successful WandaVision release schedule and drop in January of that year.

No doubt Marvel is waiting until this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con before making any official announcements about Vision Quest. The studio’s traditional big Hall H in July should likely reveal everything we wish to know about the superhero synthezoid’s spectacular streaming spinoff.

Once Deadpool & Wolverine is out the way this summer, the next major MCU release to come in 2024 will be Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, the long-awaited WandaVision spinoff starring Kathryn Hahn’s wickedly fun witch. This isn’t the only WV offshoot in development, though, even if Marvel has been trying to make us forget its existence for the longest time.

Way back in 2022, we learned work had begun on Vision Quest, set to bring Paul Bettany back as White Vision, last seen flying off into MCU limbo in the WandaVision finale. At first glance, last year’s strikes seemed to kill this one stone-dead, however, when showrunner Jac Schaeffer and her team removed the show from their WGA profiles. And yet updated intel seems to confirm that Vision Quest lives — and that it starts production in a matter of months.

According to a rumor shared by Scarlet Witch Updates on X (formerly Twitter), which was then given a lot more credence by a Production Weekly listing, Vision Quest is all set to go before cameras in the U.K. this October — around the same time sister show Agatha will hit Disney Plus.

Exactly who is involved with the series, beyond Bettany himself, remains a mystery, as we don’t even know if WandaVision and Agatha EP Schaeffer is still on board or not. That said, we’re pretty certain Joe Locke will reprise his role as Not Wiccan from Agatha, which hopefully means that we’ll be meeting the grown-up Tommy/Speed as well, Vision’s other twin son. An Elizabeth Olsen cameo as Scarlet Witch would also be ideal, but she is technically dead in MCU canon, .

Marvel has a serious backlog of streaming series at present — including Daredevil: Born Again, Wonder Man, and Ironheart — so in a way it’s surprising to hear the studio is moving forward with Vision Quest. On the other hand, the superhero synthezoid is one of the franchise’s longest-running characters at this point so the project does fall in line with Bob Iger’s decree that Marvel should only focus on its most valuable IP from now on.

We’ve been requesting elaboration on this one for the longest time, and it looks like our patience might soon pay off.
